????

We were burgled last week. Some cretin broke a huge hole in our kitchen window and let itself into OUR home. It then proceeded to go through every room, swiping up small articles it could thieve without having to worry about them being too big to get discreetly out of the house.

Apparently small crime like this is very much on the rise. Our country is becoming awash with scum who feel it’s their right to break into someone’s house and take whatever they fancy, never mind that the owner of those goods worked hard to acquire them. (Never mind that this particular owner of those goods may have been through some traumatic times without all this!)

I feel differently about my house now, it no longer feels like a safe and cosy haven. We’ve done our best to secure it better this weekend by adding padlocks to the garden gate and putting net curtains up so noone can see inside. It will take more than this though and I don’t think it’ll be long before we make a move to pastures new.

Oh my gosh, my sweet Nikki, I am so awfully sorry something so dramatic & stressful (to say the least) happened to you. And I understand it’s hard to feel safe & serene right after this. You frankly didn’t deserve this, after all you’ve been through these last months. I keep you, Dave & the doggies all in my thoughts, and hope your soul & heart will feel more peaceful soon. Sending you tons of hugs right now. xoxoxoxo

Hi Nikki, So sorry to hear about the burglary, I can understand your distress after all you have been through. I’m very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum, I know how you are feeling, I often catch myself thinking what would my Mom think about this. I’m glad to hear that Dave recovered, it must have been and still is very stressful for you. I hope the doggies are good. Take care of yourself. *hugs*

disgusting scum. It sickens me that idiots like that get away with it *if* caught in the first place.

gosh. reading the last line. Any decisions yet?

must scoot. little one is roaming around on her own, anything could happen!

p.s who do you want to win BGT? I was gutted that DJ Talent was booted off. So bad he’s brilliant!

ooh, and do you see my diary in tables? I have no idea who sees it correctly and who doesn’t. Mind you, as I can’t see any problem with the code or page myself, I can’t really correct something that appears differently when someone uses a different program that I don’t use!

Oh dear, I’m so sorry Nikki. This is nasty & I imagine how you feel. It happened to me many years ago & you don’t feel the same in your house for some time but time does help & if you have secured your home it should feel safer soon.
You’re very much in my thoughts, big hugs

Hello Nikki – I am just whisking round visiting and saying hello for the first time in ages as I’m not blogging now to read you’ve been burgled – How awful. I understand how you feel diffferently about your home now, it’s not nice to think someone has been marching around uninvited. Were the dogs there when it happened? Anyway so sorry to hear this. Big Hugs xxxxx

gutted. halfway through a long comment and something went doolalley and now it’s gone. Will come back over the weekend to try and repeat it. I’m having trouble seeing what I type, as I do so the box moves and I have to keep stopping or I can’t see what I’m saying. Not sure why, I don’t normally have this strife.

Right. I’m off.Have a lovely weekend. Loving BGT, glad the wheat has been sorted from teh chaff”!! xx

Just saw you left a comment on SCR, thanks for doing that! I feel a bit like I can’t win with RDR. It looks crap to people but I can’t do anything about it, it annoys me that it looks like that but what can I do. I don’t really want to keep moving or changing, so it will have to stay looking stupid for some.

The lost comment was asking if your spode was ‘Blue Italian’? We have a few teacups & saucers in that, it’s very pretty. Our main spode is Penny Lane. It’s made up of a mix of blue floral patterns, which is why we loved it. We got it with wedding loot, but now it’s discontinued, which is why we needed to find something that would work well with it as I have no intention of getting rid and starting again.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend. Ooh, wasn’t it fab that Diversity won last night? I was so so so pleased! Susan Boyle is great, but she will do well either way, and fingers crossed, so will Julian the sax player. And Flawless. And Aiden. And Shaun. Oh, so many acts that I loved this year!

    Have a lovely Sunday xxx

sodding felt tips! I can safely say it will be a long time before Humbug is allowed to do any felt tip work. I’ve got to go and scrub my beloved LA rug in the living room now! arrggh!!

thanks so much for your comments, especially the one on CR! Thanking you in advance for the goodies, there is no need to send anything but I am touched by your kindness and grateful, and know someone else will be too! :)
Yes, I changed the layout for the other one. I would have left it, but once I knew it wasn’t looking nice to others I just couldn’t leave it that way. Ignorance was certainly bliss!

sorry about your work colleague. Don’t you find things always seem to happen like that, not just one person has a tragedy but several all close together. Can imagine the cloud of gloom that hangs over your workplace at the moment. :(

got to scoot. scrubbing awaits! xxxx

  9. sadie says:

you are naughty! Nice surprise to see an early comment from you though ;)

glad the card got there, I am so pleased to have got them out so promptly! Not like me at all. When people were here I sneaked off and scribbled out a load of ‘thank you’s just to get it done and out of the way!

Well, BB. Have to say that I can’t get into it at all so far. I’ve seen the odd snippet here and there, but I just found the whole ‘not really a housemate’ thing irritating. What is the point of going to the auditions and doing whatever they had to do, only for it to be snatched away at the last minute. On Sunday I was pottering about in the kitchen, and had C4 on the telly. I was glancing at it as I got on with prepping the roast, and was shocked and not impressed by the SAS people bursting in. How stupid are they at C4? In a time when crime is all over the place, they must have thought the country had been taken over or something. C4 are lucky no one had a heart attack or massive panic attack. I think it was stupid thing to do to people holed up with no idea of what is going on in the outside world.

It doesn’t help that they seem to have a gaggle of total nitwits, and the house is horrible to look at.Hurts my eyes!

So, at the moment I can’t tell you what I think of people. I can only remember Lisa and Angel, the latter looks like an Angel of Death to me, she has a very scary looking face! I’m sure I’ll start watching when it gets interesting.

Loved the Apprentice. I was pleased with the winner. I share the same problem as her – stroppy looking face if I’m not smiling! I liked it when she showed her vulnerable side. For example, her face when Lorraine was booted out. she looked confused and quite upset. I just hope she settles down and realises that you don’t have to be a b*tch to get ahead in bizniz. Look at good old surrallen. He’s not a total t*sser, but he has respect and has made lots of loot.
Think her new job sounds a total yawn though, I’d rather be inventing choccies!!!!

ok, little one is demanding an early bath. She scoffed an ice lolly and has most of it down her front, so she wants a bath to get clean again! xxxxxx

‘cheer up, it might never happen’! Urggh. How many times have I heard that? So annoying.
I can beat it though, years ago I was on a lunch break, and sitting in a shopping centre minding my own business, just thinking and doing nothing. Some bloke came up to me and gave me a leaflet and said really seriously, ‘read this, it might help’, eh? I looked at the leaflet and it was going on about suicide and what to do if you are thinking about it!!!!!!! I swear, this is a true story. I was only thinking!!! Miserable face, that’s me!

  11. sadie says:

    hello!
thought I’d come over and say hello here, but must admit, felt a bit nervy in case you had any more trouble.

Don’t worry about not commenting on the other place, it’s just a place where I stash links I want to keep and photos that I want to leave somewhere easy to see when I want to. :)
Yes, it was such a worry, and just like you watching the bump on that little kids head, Humbugs was exactly the same. Just like a cartoon, only not in the slightest bit funny. I really was worried. It’s only now as it’s a faded bruise that I can relax, although when postie asked this morning if she had had a wallop on her head, I thought ‘god, what will people think tomorrow?’. That said, I’m not too worried about other people, I’m not trying to cover it up or anything, because it is what it is and kids do fall and get bruises.

Hot today. Bleugh. Not nice at all. Little one said to me a little while ago ‘can we go outside and run around’! ha ha ha! I said no. I’ll take her out to the front garden in a while, as it will be shadier there so she can run about and I won’t worry too much about her overheating. I see my weather pixie has rain showing, so I’m hopeful it’s on the way. I know it’s meant to rain tomorrow night and Sunday, then next week Metcheck.com says it’s going to be blistering hot. Great  :|

Right. I’m off.Just printing off my shopping list for tomorrow.

    have a lovely weekend.

Just popped by to say HI. Hope you are fine. :)

  13. sadie says:

hope Panda shows up soon. :( I can totally imagine your worry. It’s horrible when they go missing like that :( I hope Dave is right, and she’s just hiding and will be out soon. Years ago my cat Nelson ‘vanished’. We searched high and low, he eventually turned up. He’d been hiding in a watering can (empty) that was lying on it’s side in the garden!

Bet you can’t wait for this week to be over :)
Did you see Masterchef? I was so glad Jayne won. I wanted it to be either her or the bloke, that Wendy one was annoying me. Yes she could cook, but she came across (to me) as someone who thought they had it in the bag. And her faces of ‘oooh, I’m so annoyed with myself’ just wound me up. Ok, we get it. You’re an actress!!!!!!

got to scoot. Just been a busy old week. Whenever I think ‘ooh, time for myself’ I find a bit of laundry and have to handwash it. My machine died on Thursday and the new one won’t be here until Tuesday. Not too long, but urgh, handwashing. I have to do it so often as the thought of letting it build up into a mountain is too horrible for words. I just Thank God I’d already done the sheets before it gave up. Washing undies and shirts and little ones stuff isn’t too bad, but having to finish off the quilt in the bath wasn’t my idea of fun! ;) xxx

hope you don’t have swine flu at school. I admit it’s starting to totally freak me out.
I keep worrying in the dead of night, which is pointless. But it’s so scary, and I agree, there must be something they are not telling us.
Mind you, people are stupid and getting on my nerves. The times I am in the fruit & veg section in supermarkets and people are sneezing and spluttering around it. I want to slap them, not a hanky in sight and swine flu on the rise. No thought or basic common sense at all.

Hope all was ok yesterday with your brother. Also hope Panda puts in a show soon. You certainly have a lot on your plate, especially as you have your big decision to make too.

Right. Got to go. washing machine delivery day, so we are up early! xxxx

  15. sadie says:

arghh!! I am so angry! Tell me something, when I write in my diary, do I come across as being incredibly thick or in need of being ‘put in my place’? I ask because I’ve just read partronising crap yet again and I am really irritated by it. I will email you with the details. I have to say that I am — this close to just closing for good and just keeping the private diary, because I get so sick of sharing stuff that I am happy about, only to find myself corrected or having cold water poured on it. It’s just killing the fun of it for me. I wouldn’t mind if I was a total cow to people, but all I do is share what’s going on with me. And crikey, forgive me for being excited about finally getting something I’ve always wanted.
I’m writing more over at SCR, because I know I can write there and not have to read anything stupid about what I have to say.

Sorry to rant, but I’m so fed up with this rubbish.

I have some thoughts to share with you about the Anti British rubbish that I’ve been reading too! Email on it’s way.

I wanted to reply yesterday, but time got away from me.
You’ve had quite a week. I’m glad the sale is going through quickly, but how heartwrenching to have to sort and go through everything. Must rake up all your sadness again. :(
About the hydrangeas, if you want to dry them out it’s easy. You can keep them in water as a cut flower for ages, and let the water evaporate, the flowers will just dry out naturally. They are one of the easiest flowers to dry. Or, hang upside down and stick in the airing cupboard so the colour stays stronger.
Another idea would be to try and make the cutting take root so you can take a little plant with you when you move yourself. Try in water (mint always roots this way, I’m not sure if it would work, but it’s worth a try. A cutting of leaves rather than flowers is the thing to try), then when you get roots shooting, transfer to a pot of soil and see how it goes. Once bigger put it in a larger pot and when you find your new home you can plant it out. I’m sure this is ‘doable’ and would be a lovely reminder :)

got to go. Will try to email over the weekend. Been busy this week and yet we haven’t been out anywhere! Madness!
