a good day

The children have been in fine form on their first day back at school. It’s pretty much guaranteed that behaviour is good in these first few days as they start to feel their feet again. Everyone was listening to each other which is quite an achievement as this little lot are particularly egocentric for some reason. Possibly because they’re a very immature group this year. As you can imagine, those of us who work in schools are forever being amused by something a child says. The source of much merriment (for the adults) today came when I was showing the children some new signs I’d put up around the classroom. I was checking to see if they could read them. I came to where I’d displayed all the children’s timelines and I also reminded them of my photos which showed me from a baby until now. Some bright spark piped up ‘that’s when you got married’, another said ‘that’s when you were a toddler’ and then I heard a little voice say ‘and that one’s when you were a Ninja’ !!!???!! Huh? Where the heck did that come from? I turned to the little boy responsible and asked him to repeat it in case I’d misheard, but no I was right, he had said Ninja. And then I realised what he meant………teenager!! Bless him!

On a very different note I’m sure everyone the world over has been horrified by what happened in Virginia yesterday. I was immediately put in mind of the Dunblane massacre  which happened 11 years ago. Many new legislations came from that tragedy. I just have one question to ask with regard to these events. What is a gun used for?

    ah, Ninja!

11 years ago. Goodness, I could not remember how long ago it was. I was trying to think of it when I was at Toni’s earlier today. I am furious about what happened in Virginia to be honest. Ok, it’s fine to be angry with other people, yourself, the world, but why do people think that it’s fine to go around killing innocent people just because they are hacked off with something? It makes my blood boil.

I’m glad you had a good day, Ninja Nikki. I will be emailing you soon. I’d planned on sending a few emails today, but ended up revamping MSG instead, and now it’s late (for me) and I must pre write my diary for tomorrow (or it will not get done) and go to bed!

lots of love to you xxxxx

Hello sweet Ninja !! ;) eheh I’m glad your day was not too awful. But, sorry your group of kids is immature … I guess there are years like these … :(
Yes, I read the news on CNN.com … OMG how awful ! It’s almost impossible for me to imagine that someone has the will to kill so many persons. I was in a 20 000 students campus years ago & I prefer not to think if such a mad guy had come to do the same. A nightmare. :(
I hope your week will be quite good too. Thinking about you. OXOXOXO

Oh, Nikki, the ninja story is too cute!!! It’s good to hear your kids are responding positively to the vacation aftermath. Mine are, too. I’ve decided to reward my honors class for hard work and good behavior by letting them write and film a Pride and Prejudice drama for their final project. I know it will be funny; they come out with some wild stuff. One of my girls did an impromptu thing of an airline passenger attacking a guard with a mascara wand today after I described the rules at the airport last night. I guess you would have had to have been there, but it was fun. Have a lovely Wednesday!
