a short one

It’s been another glorious week of weather. Quite incredible for this time of year and for once we’ve been getting better weather than the south west which usually outdoes us in the east! It’s been a fairly uneventful week at work. The children are still working hard and I’m now preparing them for the transition to their next class. Reception to Year 1 can be quite tough so I try to make it as easy as possible for them by introducing them to the ways in which they work in that class. Encouraging them to become more independent, to try and organise themselves a little, and to persevere longer with things are some of the things I do.

After working at the same school all of my teaching career, I’ve taken the difficult decision of applying for a post at another school. My reasons for doing this are many, but none of them are because I’m unhappy where I am. Nothing could be further from the truth! It’s because I’m so happy there that’s it’s been such a hugely difficult thing to do. I’ll say no more at this point. My interview is on Wednesday and if I get the job I’ll give more detail on what made me do it! Whatever happens is ‘meant to be’ and I’m remaining very philosophical about it all :)

I’ve spent much of the weekend sunbathing……… and then catching up with housework and schoolwork after spending too long out there! We also had a shopping trip yesterday when I bought some summer clothes for work. I have some pics to share but I think I’ll leave it until I post next as time is running away from me, again. I don’t have much more to report this week, probably because my mind is so preoccupied at the moment, so will say bye bye :)

  1. I’m not surprised your mind is elsewhere! It’s quite a big thing, having an interview, especially when you are happy anyway. But, you know my thoughts on it, and I do think you are doing the right thing. :) I hope Weds. goes well, but I just know it will :em34: Will email you tomorrow.

ok. must skidaddle. Got a wild little girl with a mass of hair running around screeching. Oh yes, it’s bedtime! xxxxxx

  2. Hi, Nikki. Sounds like my kind of weekend. I’ve been too lazy to even shop. I guess it’s because starting next weekend my life will change into full-time Nana. There’s so much to do, but I’m looking forward. Best of everything with the proposed change. May it all turn out for the best whatever is decided. Love, Julia

  4. hello!
hope your headache clears up. Could be weather related. The main reason I don’t like summer that much, is because I tend to get a lot of headaches. Especially if it’s going to be stormy. Tomorrow we might have showers and/or storms (just saw it on GMTV), so that could account for your bonce ache!

Roxy to be a mama?! hilarious!

  5. Hello! Well, as you can tell, I wasn’t able to get back to reconstruct my long lost comment. Time was so slim while S was home on holiday for me to be on the computer. (he has blogs he read too and with his personality we’re going, going, going the whole day!) I’ve spent part of nap time sleeping myself since he went back to work! ;)
I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow….it is always such a difficult decision to make a change in your job situation, especially when you are happy. S left an international accounting firm a year ago last December. He’d worked with them for 14 years and it was a really hard decision to make but it has worked out so well as he joined a local partnership here and loves the increased freedom. However…many nights of soul searching went on before that so I can imagine how you feel right now. I’m sure it will work out just as it ought to. ((hugs))
Summer sounds like it will start this weekend for us (we’ve had a very unusually cool spring) and temps will be 28C which is Hot here!
I’ll try and check back later on in the week to see how things went. Take care xoxo

  9. Hi Nikki, I hope you get the new post if that is what you want. I love all the pictures you posted, I didn’t know Wisteria grew like that and your Mom’s peonies are gorgeous, I must look in the nursery to see if I can find a peony tree. Have a nice weekend. *hugs*
