A suitably theatrical title to describe how the Nativity play turned out
. Midway through the week the rest of the staff and I were tearing our hair out in despair as, after two weeks of practice, the little darlings still weren’t getting it! However, on Friday, in front of the parents, they finally pulled it out of the bag and put on a perfect performance!! It was superb and the parents were enthralled
. So now we can enjoy the last weeks and do lots of Christmassy things, lovely!
Monday was Dave’s birthday and the Friday before that my mum’s so quite busy on the pressie front. I think I have most of the Christmas present shopping done, just a couple of gift vouchers to buy for tricky teenagers! No decorations up at home yet….as always I’ll probably leave it until school breaks up to start our christmas which will be spent at home this year. We had toyed with the idea of spending Christmas down in Dorset again with the grandchildren but as it would mean putting the doggies in kennels (which just felt so awful last year) we decided against it. So we’re looking forward to a lovely cosy day at home with our two babies
.
Last night we went to a belated wedding reception (the happy couple got married in October). The groom is a prison warden so the party was held at the prison! A very high security prison at that! Quite weird, drinking and dancing just metres away from some of the most dangerous men in the UK! A long lie in is now being followed by a lazy afternoon watching one of my favourite films ‘The History Boys‘, – wonderful and very, very British!

God. I think I’d be ever so slightly freaked being inside a prison like that! Even though I know it must have been safe, I’d still be a bit nervy!
Bill has been laughing at me. Ever since I read your comment I’ve been scouring through yesterdays paper for the CK mention. Can’t find it!
What is the title of the book? If it’s not ‘Make’ or ‘tips for a vintage look’ then I need to know so I can get it! Bill won’t be laughing if it is a different one and i decided to order it using his credit card! ha ha ha
I’m glad you are having Christmas at home, even if it means missing out on seeing the family (completely understand the dilemma though), much nicer for the doggies to have Christmas at home with you
had a lovely Sunday. Been shopping
it’s all I seem to do at the moment! Here me complain? Not a chance!
xxxxx
urgh. forgot to say how glad I am that all went well with the play, and how you can enjoy the rest of term now! I’m getting old, I’m so forgetful! xxx

Hi sweetie
Thanks so much for your visit yesterday & for your kind words, they were much appreciated !
Hard work pays in the end, right ?!
Yeah for the play that was a hit !
We’re also having a quiet & cozy Christmas at home with the boys only. Perfect. I hope you’ll enjoy yours !
Happy belated birthay to Dave, btw. I hope he had a great one !
Sending much love your way xoxox Have a great week ahead !
Ciao Nikki, I’m glad the Nativity play went well
I love this kind of things
I would have liked it.
Before working with former alcoholics (back in Italy) I wanted to work (as a volunteer) in a prison.
A wedding reception in a prison.. well, that’s cool!
Hope you and Dave are doing great, have a lovely new week!
Hugs & smiles from Scotland!
Hi Nikki, glad all went well with the play, it’s nice to have the stress of it behind you. The belated wedding party sounds a bit weird, I prefer regular party places
I hope your week is starting well, hugs
Ciao Nikki! Hope you are having a lovely day! There’s an award waiting for you on my blog. Just left click to pick it up. Sorry I’m so short but I had major problems posting and now I must log off, talk more soon! Hugs!

morning! Urgh, am worn out. It’s been all dirty nappies, leaks and having to change little one, then finding Dudley is being vile and weeing on the floor when he considers his toilet too dirty! I wouldn’t mind, but I do my best, and how can he be so hoity toity when he’s a cat who washes his own bum!!!!
I’ve just been rifling thorugh the tv guide for the week. Yey, loads of cooking programmes! Almost a week of Nigella, a bit of Rick Stein, a dash of Hugh Fearnly-thingummy, and finishing off with a bit of Jamie Oliver. Hurrah! Decent telly! Going to have to do quite a bit of taping though, as a few things overlap and I don’t want to miss any of them.
wrapping. I need to get on with that too. I wanted to do it yesterday, but ended up doing – well, don’t know exactly, the time just melted away – so it didn’t get done.
Thanks for your email! Made me smile, you are a softie!
must skidaddle. I need and deserve a cup of tea and choccy biccie. Was bad, and the tin of M&S bics were deemed too nice to give away, so I’ve kept them myself! ha ha ha ha! xxxxxx
ooh. no tag board!
Meez have updated. I was so pleased, the other day I wanted a ‘standing in the snow’ animation and now they’ve got one. I bought it and was delighted, until I saw that it came with a randon arm and hand at the back of Meez’s head! I’ve emailed them telling them the animation has a slight glitch, so I hope they can sort it out. Looks so freaky!
Hope you have a good – and not too hectic – day. xxx
Hi Nikki, just dropping by to say hello and wish you a lovely holiday in case I don’t get a chance to drop in again. *hugs*
evenin’! Taping Nigella so I can watch Come Dine With Me. Aren’t the tv people rotten swines, sticking all the cooking on at the same time! (little one has seen so much Nigella, that she points to the telly and bellows ‘ijellaaaa’! so sweet)
Been to Sainsbury’s tonight. Got all the food for next week, including most the stuff for Christmas dinner. Hurrah! Am so relieved. The only thing we couldn’t get was the chicken because the dates weren’t good and I have no intention of freezing it only to defrost in a few days time, and lemons. I can’t cook a chicken sans lemon slices, so Bill has his Mission for Monday. M&S for chicken and lemons! God, I hope he can be trusted!
So glad to have got it all done though, and am sitting here quaffing a jumbo glass of vino, as I really deserve it.
Thanks for saying my garden looks magical!
I hope it does to people round here too. I’ve already got my plans in place for next year. I’m going to have lights either side of the path, leading up to the front door. I’d do it now, but I don’t have any more lights. Or extension leads. Or double plug sockets. Or plugsholes, for that matter! Bill thinks I’m insane, and is sure that one day he’ll come home and I’d have stapled lights to the entire house. Wouldn’t do that though, I just like them around the garden! The windowsill idea is on my list for 09 though!
Had an email from the good people of Meez, they’re looking into the freaky extra arm part of the snow animation! Yes, I did get the giftie gb man ani from Meez (but thanks for mentioning it, I am sure I often miss those free gifties(, and had it going before I spotted the snow. It’s hilarious!
Aww, so glad your littlelees did the gb man cards. That’s such a nice thing for them to do.
sorry about all the spam. What a pain. Hope you can find a way of getting rid of them completely.
right. got to go. Magoo still awake, which is bad news. She was a bit over excited by Sainsbury’s!
xxxxxx
hurrah for being on hols! Your stilton/salmon munchies sound very lovely. I was chuffed with my stilton purchase in Sains. It said the goodly sized wedge was £4, but in had a third off and was only £2.66. Bargain. I’m very glad to have got the food shop done now, it’s not my favourite thing to do. Tomorrow morning we’ve got to go into town early, which I am not looking forward to. Not shopping, just going to the bank and have an appointment so we should be able to breeze in and breeze out, but I’d rather be at home.
News is so gloomy. First woolies, now MFI, what next?
right. time I was off, little one has gone very quiet! yikes! xxxx
Happy Birthday! I hope I’ve remembered the date correctly, or I’m going to feel like a total fool!
lots of love xxxxx
sending you tons & tons of hugs, and festive wishes all the way !! xoxoxoxo take good care !! xoxoxo
Happy Birthday Nikki! I hope you are very spoiled & that you have a perfect day. How nice it’s on a Saturday! Big hugs
Your poor mum! She must have been gutted. I hope it’s easily sorted out though.
Yes, I can see how hard it must be to spend a day just thinking about yourself and your special day, when it’s so close to Christmas. I’d always thought it must be lovely to be a ‘christmas baby’, but now I’ve seen it from your point of view, I’m not so sure.
Oh this morning was a right pain in the rump! One the plus side I must have burned off quite a few calories! And, the girls who served us in both banks were quite honestly wonderful. With this time of year, and so much unrest in retail and banking, you’d forgive them being surly, but not so. Helpful and friendly. It made things a lot easier, I can tell you.
You are so welcome to the brooch! When I made that particular one, it was made with you in mind. I almost blabbed so many times you wouldn’t believe it. When I changed the style, I thought I must send you the revised version!
I had to laugh at your shopping comment. And the answer is yes, actually!
I hadn’t really thought about it before, but my Mum is a shopaholic. Mainly with supermarkets, she shops every day for bits and bobs needed. You can ask her at any time ..’price of sprouts in Asda/Morros/Sainsburys?’ and she can give you the answer within 5 seconds! Not a lie! When I was little she used to drag us round the shops, especially when she’d lost a lot of weight. She got totally obsessed with buying new clothes, which was understandable. My younger brother and I used to get so bored! The penny really had not dropped until you asked, so it must run in the genes!
I do think myself lucky with little one though. Not only is she so nicely behaved, but she’s such a charmer! Bill always read the name tags of whoever serves us in shops, and little one will say ‘Hello Emily’ or Sarah, or Kim. I feel so proud. I’d like to think it might be something to do with the way I’m bringing her up, but I think she’s just naturally good natured. Lucky me!
ok. Must go. Have been doing a little craft project and am about to sort out the photos for tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your day and have a drink for me! I’m got a glass of the grigio now and am about to toast you! xxxx
Just popped in (a bit late, but the day is not over yet
) to wish you a very Happy Birthday!
Hope your birthday was a winner too
xxx
me again. You probably already know this but I thought I’d tell/remind you that ‘A Lark & a Candle’/'A candle fell on a lark’/'Larks over Camberwick Green’ is on tonight. Hurrah
One day, I’ll remember the title properly! Something about a lark and a candle, anyway!
xx
fab to see you today
6.47 p.m, and pressie is still wrapped!
xx
still wrapped! Forgot to say yesterday, that I totally LOVED the card!
absolutely corking!
Have a lovely Christmas Eve Eve. Love the graphics in here xxx
Merry Christmas Nikki, isn’t this the best time of the year. Hugs
Hi, Nikki! My goodness, this post has a lot of comments! Well, that prison party does sound edgy LOL. That’s an experience I’ve never had. I always feel like speeding up whenever we pass one of those highway signs warning you not to pick up hitchers because there’s a prison nearby. As if! We are relaxing here in that lovely time between the two holidays. I love it! Hope you and yours are well.
