Another busy week…

…with no time to write my blog unfortunately. I’m relieved the weekend is here and next Friday I’ll be even more relieved as it will be the beginning of the half term break :) . We’re going down to Dorset for the week and staying at our favourite caravan site. Dave’s daughter Kaye lives down there along with her husband and son. Tyler is now 4 years old and we haven’t seen him since last Christmas so I can’t wait to see how much he’s changed! Kaye is expecting her second baby and we know it’s going to be a little girl. I’m really looking forward to another holiday, this time with the dogs :)

On Monday we had our visit to Leicester hospital along with about 12 other kidney patients and their partners/relatives. It was a very informative day, if a little overwhelming. Talks were given by doctors, nurses, a psychologist, a dietician and, most valuable of all, dialysis patients. We were shown the different types of dialysis and then the patients talked us through the benefits and disadvantages of them. It was very encouraging to see how fit and well they were! Dave’s sister Chris who has been on dialysis for two weeks now is doing extremely well and already feeling much better than she has in months. She is managing her dialysis really well and working part time. She does an exchange four times a day whereas Dave is planning to do an overnight exchange which takes 8-10 hours. This way he should be able to continue working full time once he has mastered it.

My new class are progressing well with a big improvement in behaviour and concentration. I am at last enjoying them…almost as much as last year’s children! We are halfway through the alphabet…..a letter a day taught the Jolly Phonics way….and they’re loving it :)

Today has been a beautifully sunny day…..what a great tonic!

That’s good news about the dialysis thing. You sound so positive about it now, and I’m sure you will both have the best possible experience with the treatment because of strong character. Dorset sounds lovely; I recently saw scenes from Dorset on Rick Steves’ travel show. He said it was the spot on earth that made him want to become a travel writer many years ago.
