And it wasn’t easy! Just another half an hour in bed would have been soooooo nice
But I really shouldn’t complain as we must be one of the laziest nations on earth! Apparently many people in the UK, have taken more than two weeks off over Christmas…finishing on the Friday before and not going back until next Monday. I feel ashamed! I know that in America, most people return to work after Christmas Day and that they don’t even take the following day off. Over here it’s called Boxing Day and it’s a bank holiday so the majority of people have the day off. On the radio this morning they were saying that during this particular week, more people take sick time off than any other week of the year!
Yesterday was spent at Leicester hospital due to Dave suffering large amounts of pain in his lower abdomen. Dave gave them a call in the morning and they told him to go straight over. From the moment we arrived to when we left we were hugely impressed with the treatment and care he was given. No stone was left unturned in finding out what the problem was.
He had the following tests: scan, xray, bladder scan, blood tests, urine testplus they also fed a bag of the dialysis fluid in to his tummy for the first time and then emptied it and tested that also. I can’t begin to imagine what the cost for all those tests would be! It’s fashionable to criticise our NHS here but we couldn’t fault it yesterday. Result was that there was nothing wrong, no infection anywhere. Reason they think is that the tube lies on his bladder and it gives him cystitis type symptoms. They’re hoping that in time the tube will settle elsewhere! It was good to get the first dialysis session done and out of the way……Dave said that he was unaware of the extra fluid (2 litres) in his tummy so that’s great!
Happy New Year!
Wow! Is it beautiful here!
I hope he feels better soon. Great they took it so serious.
About work and vacation.
I don’t think countries and their customs should be compared.
At other times they have leasuretime while english and other people work hard. Thanksgiving for instance.
We (you, I, etc) have the tradition of christmas being of main importance. Looking back in history there’s no need to work untill january the 6th, because that’s the day the christmastime ended and here still ends.
Hugggggss
So no ill feelings because they work and you have vacation.
