back for a while….

….immediate pressure is off as yesterday I finished writing my reports and adding photos to all of them. Reception end of year reports are rather nice at our place as all through the children’s first year at school we take photos of them doing various activities. Then at the end of the year we add 5 – 6 of them to their report which comprises of 7 pages of detailed information of what the child can do and what he/she needs to work on. They’re far more comprehensive than the other years have to do. On the front I always put a photo of the whole class so that the children will always have a record of who was in their very first class. Maybe I’ve made it a little clearer why it takes so long to complete each one! Probably about two hours per report times by the 28 children I’ve had this year. It’s part of my job though so I take it on the chin :)

So now they’re finished and I just have to print them out……I’m two weeks ahead of schedule so I’m really pleased. I suppose, apart from Christmas, this is the busiest time of the school year. Next week we have sports day and then I start to have visits from the little 4 year olds who’ll be in my class next year. I always love this bit! They’re so tiny and cute and eager :) Last year I was terribly sad to lose my last class, but this year I won’t be quite so upset as some of them have been incredibly hard work for a number of reasons which have been beyond my control.

Dave now has a date of his hernia operation…at long last. It’s in the first week of August and he’ll be laid up for a good while afterwards which scuppers our plans for a holiday in Dorset :( But at least he now knows when it is. He’ll have to come off for dialysis for two weeks after the op which will be a bit worrying. The good news we had last week was that as his bosy is so efficient he can reduce the number of hours he dialyses for each night which means we can go to bed later :) . He’s doing really well on dialysis although a transplant will always be the better option.

Hopefully now that the reports are done I’ll have more time to blog. Four more weeks at school and then I’ll have LOADS of time! It’s still quite muggy here and very unpredictable with showers of monsoon proportions. June is never very good… I know that as my son’t birthday is on Sunday and when he was little we nearly always had to do an indoor party rather than an outdoor! Which reminds me…it’s the first day of summer, yippeeee!!!!!!

Wow what a great way of doing the reports.. speaking as a parent, not you as the poor teacher that has to do them.. A great treasure of their early days at school.

I have never got over how tiny new kids to school look.. scary! lol.

What a shame on your hols but good for Dave on knowing when and on the dialysis.

Its been horrible here weather wise.. the garden is loving it..
Thank you on your lovely comments and yes sort of spoilt for choice on the photo for the header.. had to find one that fitted right.. of course I could make the header deeper.. and I am loving using the widgets

    Have a great evening
    Hugs Pixie

Do you have a stat counter on this page? if you do you’ll see I’ve been here for hours! I surfed in, then had to get little one to sleep, which has taken AGES! finally, she’s asleep, so I can say hello.

I’ll leave it at that because I want to do some sewing before BB comes on. Oh, and yes, I did see it last night!
(Davina really needs to calm down. she gets too excited. Like when she was going loopy during CBB, when loser Jade and her no hoper non celebrity boyfriend were going in, and she was saying all over the top ‘don’t you just love it?’ er, no!)

    Hello sweetie !
I’m so proud of you for being ahead on your schedule & for having done such a large work on the reports ! In France, this kind of reports are made along the school year, so I guess it’s less work at once for the teacher.
I wish you a lovely end of the week. Won’t be home Saturday & Sunday. And then, just a week to have everything ready !! Eeeeeeeek ! :(
    Big hugs to you OXOXOX

PS : I didn’t remember that Dave needed a hernia surgery. Good that it’s planned, now I hope for him it won’t be too painful till that date. I’ll keep him in my thoughts.

How wonderful to reach that stage of job well done. I know all too well what you mean about some things being beyond your control. All in all, we know as teachers that we’re accomplishing something wonderful if not something perfect. Too bad about Dave’s operation being necessary and timed not so perfect, but as long as it turns out okay, who cares? I recalled your lovely trip to Venice while watching a Venice-themed wedding on TV today. Those masks must be phallic. I’ve never been. At least you have that tucked away in your memories. Oh, congratulations on being the first commentator ever to get that X-rating or whatever it was. I loved it, reading the full post via the edit feature. Oh, I have edit comments via Fauna, but you must click the pencil, dear.

Hi Julia, Good for you finishing your reports ahead of schedule and with pictures, amazing. School here finishes tomorrow, but the teachers have to work until the end of the month. There are a lot of teachers in my family, so I know how much hard work there is. Have a nice end of the week. *hugs*

Hi Nikki Those reports sound very comprehensive but definitely a lovely thing for the child to keep, what a brilliant idea. No wonder you have been a bit quiet with all that on your plate. Glad to hear you’ve got a date for Dave’s op but shame it will impact your plans but as you say it must be good to have it finalised. Good news too about the reduction in hours for the dialysis :)
The weather can’t seem to make up it’s mind at the moment, but so far (touch wood) we haven’t had too many extremes. Hope you have a great weekend lots of love xxx

    Hi Nikki

Glad to see you stopped by :) Funny you should say your pups look like dalmations, thats what my son James says Harry looks like lol.

I have to say I dont envy all you teachers at the moment, I know how busy you all are, our teachers are the same, doing reports, organising sports day, class trips, and they all look so tired.

Our weather is awful at the moment, this morning we had black clouds and heavy reain, with abit of thunder mixed in there to lol, now its very sunny and hot !!

    Have a great weeked
    *hugs*
