And so another year begins, new children and this year it’s only 25 little characters to develop and inspire! Much excitement this morning as they all came in to school on their first day. I always have to remind myself that it’s a really BIG day for them and their parents and that it can all be overwhelming for them. I’m happy to report though that they were all fine….but let’s see what tomorrow brings as that’s when it sinks in that school is here to stay and that it’s not an option to not come back if they don’t like it!
Yesterday was a BIG day for Dave and I as we had to visit the hospital which will eventually, hopefully give him a kidney transplant. Dave had to have a series of tests done to see how suitable he is to have a transplant and he came out with flying colours…an ideal candidate. Not that we had any doubts as he is very fit and also has comparative youth on his side. While we were there we also registered our interest in me donating a kidney to someone in need, in return for one back for Dave. This is a new initiative brought in from 1st September which enables people to be cross matched. So if there’s another couple, like us, who are not compatible with each other, but are compatible with us, then we can cross match each other. Hmmm, does that make sense?! A live donor is always going to be very much better than a kidney from someone who has died. We were also told that it’s likely to take about two years for Dave to get to the top of the list for a kidney through the normal means of donation. It had been hoped that he would receive one before needing dialysis, but I fear we’re not far away from that now
.

Hello Nikki, how special for Dave, I hope he gets a live donor soon. I love your fall look with the painting at the top, the colors are so pretty. A new school year is very special & it’s great the way you realize it. You sound like a wonderful teacher. Have a great weekend, hugs
Oh, Nikki, how special for those kids to have a teacher like you. It will make all the difference for them throughout their school years. I know. I hope and pray that Dave will receive all the help he needs. You are incredibly brave in your willingness to donate. Yes, we are starting to get so excited about the grandbaby. I think she will be a good mother; she’s so excited to be pregnant. I know Matt will be a wonderful dad, too. I don’t like to post, but what’s really stressing me out is not the teaching of kids but our new manner of teaching teachers. Our principal has just pulled back and let us do so much of her job, and it detracts from the actual prep we need to do. It seems so many less than wonderful teachers choose to go into administration; then they don’t have the empathy they need. At least she wasn’t a coach lol. That’s the C word around here. Well, my kids are starting to bond with me or whatever you call it, and that’s when it becomes both easier and more rewarding. Have a lovely, relaxing weekend. Hugs, Julia
