bits and pieces…

…nothing earth shattering to say today just a few odds and ends, some of which I’ve been meaning to say for a while. First off and most importantly, Happy Birthday to my friend Sadie! Have a wonderful day!

How wonderful to see dear Ashild back drawing again, the graphic world has been very much wanting since she took some much needed time off. There are so few original artists around nowadays as the market is flooded with people using tubes and outlines. Anyway, here’s my little buys from Ashild’s newly updated shop. Oh and she also has a fab new little autumnal webset which I’ll be using sooner or later.

A couple of photos of some spoils I treated myself to in the last few weeks. Another necklace from Pilgrim which is now my absolute favourite jewellery designer. I’ve become rather disenchanted with what the high street has to offer just lately, even Next who were always my fail safe place to get something from. It’s all a bit samey which is why I love Pilgrim so much as it’s so imaginative. Also a photo of some Nougat bath and body products I bought, actually it’s the box which caught my eye and which I found utterly irresistable!

My class are continuing to be absolutely delightful and reminding me how joyful teaching is! The IWB is a resounding success. A website which I have to share with all those who read this blog who have children (or even are big kids themselves!) is www.poissonrouge.com

Oh how I love this site as it fulfills so many targets we have to meet with the children but is incredible fun at the same time! There’s a fabulous bit in there where the children can pick up a paintbrush and colour in a picture. There’s pots of different colours to dip into plus a pot of water to wash the paint off. The great thing is that if they already have blue on their brush, say, and then dip it into the yellow, it turns green! Ok so I do this later on in the year when we do do real paint mixing but already my kids know how to make secondary colours from primaries or that adding white to red will make pink! That’s just one example of what there is on this amazing site :)

Lastly, the weather continues to annoy me! Now that it’s autumn and we’ve had some cold mornings and nights I’m finding that I’m wishing it were colder during the day too. Never satisfied, me! Our school heating came on last Monday and it’s baking!! If it were cold outside I wouldn’t mind so much, no wonder schools are always packed with germs!

So pleased your class is still being good for you and I am so with you on the weather.. mighty odd is all I can say..

It spooked me when I came here as I wanted this theme.. but it doesn’t work with the now reading plugin.. no matter what I try.. glad to see it works good for you though.
    Have a fab Sunday

  2. Hi Nikki I like your new purchases, very cute. It’s nice when you discover a new place to get things that are a bit different. When my parents lived in Boston, a lot of things there are called Pilgrim, any connection? I got totally diverted by that poisson rouge site. I was busy colouring in the small versions and making a complete has of it (i kept getting outside the lines) not realising you could make them big :) I also played the snakes and ladders ladybird game. Great fun, I shall pass this on to people I know with small children. It is always baking where I work too, I haven’t ventured into tights yet, and to be honest I don’t want to, I will pass out I think :) I was thinking of a long skirt, long sleeved tshirt, boots and no tights combo to look as though I’m dressed for winter without actually getting too hot! Hope you have another lovely week with the children, lots of love xxx

  7. fingers crossed that I can leave a comment. Even comments over there –> don’t seem to be working for me today. There is a script or something that’s causing trouble for me, because it has taken ages for me to get your page to load in today, the comments wouldn’t work, and now graphics are showing up as red x’s! I can’t get into Meez either. Mine isn’t showing up, but yours is, but the whole of the Meez site seems to be down. I’ll be gutted if it’s gone :(

sounds like you have had a busy week. Me too! Only doing nice stuff! :)
Been shopping again this morning! Spent my gv in Debs, bought pink leather gloves for me, and a Jasper Conran cardi for a certain tiny person! :)
Oh, I saw that ‘bringing up baby’ programme on Tuesday. Bill was away and I was bored, so I thought I’d watch it. Hmm. I am clearly a mix of Dr Spock and the Continual thingy, did not like the bossy boots woman, who basically starved then overfed babies in order to get them to sleep through the night. Have lots I could say about her. And how typical that the two old birds were completely against breastfeeding in public, with one of them likening it to a bloke dropping his trousers? God almighty. Breastfeeding is hard enough, without a couple of morons – who clearly have never done it themselves – saying it shouldn’t be allowed in public! Good God. Thank goodness the law is on our side. They also went on about how it was better for a mum to breast feed her baby in the toilets. I had to do just that in Asda once (didn’t realise they had a baby changing room, it wasn’t clearly marked), ended up having to sit on the floor of a the disabled loo, because the toilet didn’t have a seat and inside was a ginormous poo. Lovely. I would love to see them sit and eat a sandwich on the floor of a dirty toilet, why on earth is it ok for a baby, a tiny baby who needs protecting, to do it? This kind of attitude makes me so angry.

Right. Better go, I’ve worked myself up into a little strop! I just hope this comment sticks!
