Stunning! Particularly the scenery on our return through the Cairngorms, where instead of the snow they are famous for, we were treated to varying shades of purple heather. More on that in a later post.
I have lots of photos to share and intend to spread things out over the next few days rather than cram it all into one post. So, we left our home town on Friday 8th, the boot jam packed, with the doggies strapped into the back seats. They were both absolute stars and slept virtually all the time we were travelling over the ten days we were away. A good trip to halfway Dumfries where we stayed, with the dogs allowed to sleep in our room, in a lovely B&B (run by an American man who looked like a younger version of Ted Danson wearing a kilt!).
The next morning we set the sat nav for the cottage and arrived there within about 5 hours. We had to travel down a very long gravel drive which had a private railway crossing……every time we went anywhere we had to ring Inverness railway station on the provided phone to check if it was safe to cross. Very quaint! The cottage was in the most wonderfully secluded position with a beautiful garden and a babbling brook/burn running alongside. We couldn’t have asked for a better location and accommodation, so peaceful and idyllic
More later……..
Before I start, you might want to fix your box for the anti spam word.. you have to hold the curser in that box to type.. if you let go you end up back in the website box..
What a gorgeous place to stay in.. me I wouldn’t have wanted to come home
Bless the dogs being so good.
That was good on the card arriving before you left, didn’t expect that.. it had been one of those weeks, so was later shopping for it than I meant too and sad news our local PO is closing next month so not re-stocking cards and what they did have not what I wanted.
August has been a right let down, feel sorry for the kids home on holiday and the holiday makers..
Waiting eagerly for the next update

absolutely gorgeous Nikki, love the trad Scottish cottage too. What a perfect wedding.
before I forget, the new Susan Branch calendar is finally available on Amazon. I ordered mine last night! yey! Get in early, before they sell out.
time to shower. Just been cooking eggs for the troops for brekkie. Bill is off to the gym this morning, so I told him it was good pre-gym food! xxxx
Gorgeous Nikki, Cant see the photos, but what I can see looks awesome,,I am so glad you both had a Great time:O)
Congratulations:O)
Hi Nikki Fabulous photos (but I had a bit of trouble with them too – I moved the enlarged one out of the way to click on a thumbnail underneath but I couldn’t shake of the large version. I had to refresh and start again) So glad you had a wonderful time, you both look very happy and I’m thrilled you took the dogs with you – a girl after my own heart
Thank you for letting me know your new name – sorry the envelope for the card was a bit scruffy. When my parents lived in Boston they had a Peterborough postcode and I automatically started to write that! And thanks too for telling me about six-dinner Sid, I hadn’t heard of him but I looked it up and it sounds like a wonderful book. Thanks too, too (!) for the dog friendly site – we have booked in to a Forestdale Hotel and Sandy will get B&B for £7.50 which she is very excited about. A friend has been to another one in the group and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Back to the photos – you look ravishing – I love your dress, Again many congratulations to you both. Lots of love xxx
How odd on the anti spam word only doing it with that theme, had to be something with how the form is set up.. like the look of this one and hope your having a sunny Bank Holiday Monday, we do after a cloudy morning.
