Back to school and the realisation of what we need to do before our guests arrive on Thursday finally hit us last night! We have family staying for the funeral and as we’d spent most of the weekend decorating, the house is in need of a clean. So we’re both getting in from work and immediately setting to on the house. Not that it’s that bad, but when I have people staying I like it to be spotless! We bought a new very pale cream bamboo blind for the bathroom which Dave has to fix up along with putting back all the picture hooks etc which he took down in readiness for me to wallpaper. I managed to get the wallpapering done in a couple of hours. It was easy thanks to the fact that so much of the walls are tiled. Even so, it’s given the bathroom a lovely fresher look…the wallpaper is a very thin stripe in the colours of this blog. I’ve bought new towels and a new shower curtain and now I want to ‘titivate’ with a few decorative bits and pieces (when I find some!)
Last night we were both feeling exhausted and in need of a couple more days off so when the alarm went off this morning neither of us stirred very quickly. But the kids have again been brilliant I’m thankful to say. Tomorrow I have a dental appointment after school and then on Thursday some of Dave’s family will be arriving. It seems like such a while since his mum died and it’s been very difficult waiting three weeks for the funeral. Fingers crossed that it goes smoothly and that all the past family disagreements are forgotten for this special day.
Sounds like an incredibly busy time for you, Nikki. I know you’ll get through it all somehow. I hope everyone manages to cope. The sticky at the top of my blog is reached through a box on the Fauna Options page. I have it empty tonight – can’t think of anything new lol – but can put it back just by typing in that box. I do think it’s a fun idea! I am also using the Sidenotes category for my books. I had never found a plugin that I really liked for books, but this seems perfect. Hope your week goes smoothly. I hope it does go smoothly for you on Friday – family tension can make things difficult. It sounds as though the bathroom is looking wonderful. It will be fun shopping for those finishing touches. Don’t overdo it this week, your guests will understand that you have been decorating and that you work full-time, although I do understand you’re wanting it to be just-so for them. There seems to have been a lot of dental work going on in blogging-land this last week, hope yours is nothing too painful. when it’s wet but too warm to have heating on, I iron things while damp and hang them up wherever I can. airing cupboard, over rads (even when off) those foldaway drier things (I’ve got two) and from curtain poles – anywhere! I don’t have a tumble so I have no choice. I have to add that I don’t want a tumble either, so I have a choice but that’s not one that I want to take up if you see what I mean!

the cheesy pie turned out so well,and tasted yum (tried a little bit) Next time I make them – probably next week as she has two stashed in the fridge so no more needed this week – I plan to make extra so that Bill and I can have the same!

p.s we didn’t get rain until late p.m too. Not as heavy as I thought it would be but still nice! Sky lovely and cloudy, so hoping more is on the way. hmm. I shall check http://www.metcheck.com and see what they have to say, they’re usually right xxxx
