As Julia so cleverly observed, this theme (Ollie) does have backgrounds resembling wallpaper…and in almost the right colour too! The criss cross patterned background is a very similar shade. It should really brighten the bathroom up. Dave and I had a discussion about what colour it actually is when we were looking for a very very pale version of it for the woodwork. He kept coming to me with colours which were too green in my opinion. I felt it needed more blue in it. We got there in the end! So right now, Dave is preparing the walls and doing the ceiling and woodwork and then tomorrow it’ll be my turn to hang the wallpaper
I have to keep going up and checking on him, though, as he’s inclined to overdo things which he just can’t do any more, bless him. By the way, Ollie is quite an old theme which I’ve changed a little and as I love it so much, I had to set it as default for a while.
Yesterday, I spent some of the day looking for something suitable to wear on Friday. The first shop I visited was Laura Ashley where they had two different black shirt dresses. I said to Dave, if I don’t find anything else we’ll come back here. Two hours later … guess where we ended up?! How often does that happen? Anyway, I got a lovely sleek dress with 20% off which was rather pleasing.

Not a very good picture unfortunately, I took it from the Laura Ashley site. For some reason it’s saying it has a lily print on it but that photo is definitely not showing a print of any kind and is exactly like the one I bought so I’m assuming it’s a mistake! It’s a very long while since I bought anything from Laura Ashley which used to be my first choice of wear when I was a student as it was so affordable. Not so these days, although they have improved in price recently…probably due to the fact that they’ve been doing so badly for a good few years now.
The weather is perfect today for the hoards of washing I’m doing in readiness for family who will be staying next weekend. It’s windy but warm so I’m expecting everything to dry very quickly….lovely!
Lastly, just had to post a photo of a beautiful crimson rose…part of a bunch I bought myself earlier this week. I love the way the petals unfurl and spread out.

Hi Nikki, The dress is lovely and I love the picture of the rose. Thanks for link for the plugin. I’ve got it all set up. *hugs*
I love this theme, but then again I love all your themes
.. the backgrounds are subtle and lovely..
Great dress, haven’t been in Laura Ashley for ages.
The photo of the rose is perfection..isn’t Mother Nature clever and so are you for capturing it
Good luck with hanging the wallpaper..
I am loving reading the Divide, at the moment just reading at bedtime.. a chapter a night to make it last .. I do that with some books.. don’t know why!
Glad you liked my reading room.. will add Alice Sebold’s books to my list to read.
Hugs Pixie
Thanks for the plug, dear! (I’m smiling.) You’re probably off to bed by now, especially after the marathon of home improvement. I spent much of this weekend playing with Fauna. There’s a newer version on Google than on the Noscope site; don’t ask me how I found it, but anyway … it has a number of nice little improvements. The rose is beautiful; I should do that for myself more often. We celebrated Cinco de Mayo a day late and went out for Mexican food at lunch – been lazy ever since except for reading. I wonder why! Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Julia
I forgot to say the dress is perfect. I love anything Laura Ashley although I seldom go near it anymore. Very good choice.
I love Laura Ashely. and the best news is they have started to do girls clothes again (they stopped, Iknow this because I asked) Hurrah! I always said that I would love a little girl so I could dress her in Laura Ashley and now I can!
yes, the top is broderie anglaise. When Bill saw it on the hanger he hated it, but I said it would look great on. I tried it on and he agreed, it was very nice. It was from F&F at Tesco. Just £15, which I thought was a jumbo bargain. Last year (I think, could have been year before – not sure) Top Shop did a similar dress that sold out. Don’t know the price, but it was more than £15 I’m sure.
I totally agree that LA prices have been getting better lately. The black dress looks perfect for what you want it for
your rose looks very lovely.
well I must scoot. Little Miss is up from her nap and I must sort out her tea.
it’s been quite rainy here today, lovely.
I’m pleased to see the rain, though I admit I’m looking forward to getting the CK gazebo up when I can!

Hello Nikki, what a lovely dress & a beautiful rose. I love the graphics you use too. It’s funny how often something set aside in case you don’t find anything better is the best
I hope your day is fun as you’re not working. Have a great week, hugs
Hi, Nikki! Hope you had a great Monday. You know, I don’t care for Ben Affleck either. He’s a little too goofy for me, but that fits the Superman role perfectly. I think he’s playing himself to some degree. Rear Window is one of my two favorite Hitchcocks, the other being Vertigo. I am a Jimmy Stewart fan, too, and he’s in both of these. And Grace Kelly – what a great beauty. I checked her biography out of the local library a couple of weeks and skimmed it before returning it unread – too sad. I prefer the illusion, I guess. Have a good day tomorrow!
Hi Nikki Couldn’t see the Ollie theme and had to change it – it is nice I like it, it’s a lovely colour and would be very relaxing in a bathroom
I like the dress you bought, very suitable and yes I have done that so many times, gone back to the first place
I love LA too but being quite short I always feel a bit swamped by their clothes, I can still see the first thing I bought in there though in the early 70′s, a maxi skirt with a sort of bib top, all frilly and a huge bow at the back in a green fabric with a tine cream floral print. I loved it
Hope you enjoy your 4 day week lots of love xxx
that’s tiny not tine! I also did Holly’s room when she was baby from top to bottom in Pink Laura Ashley – It’s the room I’ve got the PC in now and it’s still the same and I still love it
thanks for your comment
You would not believe the amount of rolled eyes I have to put up with when I refuse to do anything that will mean having to have someone else look after my little sweet pea. I hope that now everyone can understand why I am so super protective. You’d have thought that the accident would have made most people realise that.
My MIL is 81 and always hinting to look after humbug, but it’s not going to happen. Aside from the fact that I don’t want to, just recently she managed to hurt herself by – you’ll love this one – putting a fireguard at the foot of the stairs so their dog could roam around at night for a treat , then forgetting about it next morning, falling over it and gashing her leg quite badly. hmm. just as well she wasn’t – for example – carrying a small child at the time. I rest my case. Plus FIL is not well, so she has her hands full there.
Anyway. lovely weather we are having! I love it! So cold and windy and rainy. I am in my element. Don’t mind it at all.
Yes, thank God RE backgrounds! It was doing my head in! I love to swap bg’s as often as I can so to lose that chance was gutting!
have a lovely evening xxx
