eggs (part deux)

My arrival at school this morning was met by a very eggscited friend who’d already been in the classroom and discovered that SEVEN of the eggs had hatched overnight  Fortunately one of the remaining eggs did hatch in front of the children later so they were able to view the gorgeous sight of a chick pecking it’s way out of it’s cosy home :) . Another hatched later this afternoon which just leaves one! Click on pics to see most of them earlier this morning …. there’s also a close up of the liveliest and nosiest one!

Aside from the births it’s been a difficult day all round, as was yesterday. Too much to do in school time and not enough time to do it makes Nikki a stressed out teacher :( To cap it all I have yet another hacking cough and I can tell my voice is starting to go. well it’s half term the week after next so if the worst happens and I lose my voice I’ll be back at the doctors and then it’ll be into hospital with tubes down my throat…nice!
On a happier note here’s a couple of pics I’ve taken of a beautiful bouquet I treated myself to which was selling for about a quarter of it’s original price. Lots of roses and gerbera photos but I particularly like these rather arty ones ;)

  2. Oh, the chicks are like a miracle. What fun!!! I hope your cough gets better instead of worse. Knock on wood, I’ve never had tubes down my throat, and I’m sure I don’t want to. I don’t guess you can explain that you’re losing your voice to little ones, either. The flowers are so pretty. That daisy is spectacular. Keep on treating yourself; you deserve it right now. Big hugs, Julia

  3. Hi Nikki I laughed at the sight of that chick staring out of the window – he’s definitely the leader of the pack, the sort who would be the main character in a “Chick has an adventure” type book. Sorry you are losing your voice again, I suppose it is an occupational hazard, especially if you have that horrid cough :( . Did you pursue the voice coaching idea? Hope your day is fab xxxx

  5. Hello sweetie !
Aww aww aren’t these little chickies adorable ?! I don’t know if I’m crazy, but it seems to me that little chickies have a kind of angry look ?! Is it only me or what ?
Oh no, I’m so sorry your voice is going wrong again. :( And I’m also so very sorry that you’re being overwhelmed by school duties … :(
I’m happy you treated yourself with flowers, that was the best thing to do, aside from chocolate … of course !!!! ;)
Wishing you a nice Friday tomorrow, my friend.
Sending you big hugs, and to Dave, my best regards.
XOXOXOX Take care & try to don’t force your voice (I know, easier said than done … with children !)

  6. aw! the little baby chicks are so cute! :) I’m glad the kiddies got to see one hatching out, that’s such a lovely thing.

Sorry about the cough. :( I hope it gets better and you don’t end up in hospital with pipes down your throat.

thanks for your sweet comments today. Yes, Bill does concur about the looking after of humbug. his parents are 80 and 81 and it really isn’t possible. His ma is very active for a person of her years (still plays tennis each week at the Frinton tennis club!) so she’s as fit as she can be at her age, but she comes with other dangers. For example, her driving. I will have to email you next week with an example that will make your hair stand on end, and then you’ll think ‘yes, she is dead right not to let her MIL look after the little one’! It’s a shame, but there we are. Plus, they are in Clacton, so it’s not like they are handy for babysitting. Which in hindsight is just as well.

ok. must scoot. Numberjacks is about to start and little one loves that. And I love her watching it, seeing all those big numbers doing mathsie type things. Child will be a genius at this rate! put your feet up and have a glass of wine, it’s Friday night! xxxx
