Not that you’d know it, very cloudy, cold and extremely windy here. I don’t mind though as Dave and i and the animals are all tucked up nice and cosy in the warm. I’m sorry for anyone that has to go out in it! The forecast is for snow this weekend in the east, so maybe…. just maybe…..
It’s been another two weeks since I last wrote, time just kept getting away from me what with going away last weekend and a hectic time at school. We had a brilliant time in Birmingham. One highlight being a gorgeous meal in a proper Italian restaurant, only mildly spoiled by the arrival of four fire engines as we were just finishing our meal and paying. It was only when three burly firemen entered the place and the manager announced that they may have to close, did we (Dave, me, his son and girlfriend) realise that something was going on and we made a sharp exit! (I think the fact that we’d demolished a few bottles of wine stopped us from panicking!). Turned out that the building next door was on fire. Here’s a photo of the scrumptious pizza I decided to have (I would normally go for pasta but I couldn’t resist a real authentic Italian pizza!)
Other highlights were a trip to a very trendy art gallery where I saw this stunning and huge painting:
and then on the Sunday, a day spent in the Bull Ring, one of the UK’s best and biggest shopping centres. Our first trip there and we were immediately captivated by the amazing, futuristic Selfridges building before we even got inside! Here’s more pics, one of Selfridges, another (and this one’s for Sadie!) of a beautiful Chloe bag and one of a massive bull made totally of jelly beans! The food hall kept us very occupied! First thing we did was join the queue for the Krispy Kreme donuts, something I’ve wanted to try for years. What a selection, I ended up buying a dozen assorted and then shared them with Jake and Ali’s housemates.
Selfridges was definitely the best part of the Bullring, it’s a few years since I’ve been to the one in London which I used to visit regularly at one time. We can’t wait to visit Bimingham again, it’s very alive and uplifting there.
This week has been spent doing all things Easter. The children made their Easter cards earlier in the week which I forgot to take a pic of and on Wednesday night the Easter Bunny arrived to fill the childrens bags with eggs:
Yesterday we had the Easter bonnet competition which my mum came in to judge (she’s a volunteer in school, helping the kids in my class learn to read). And a fine job she did too, we always like to ensure that the hats that win are at least partly the children’s own work, and mum was happy to make sure that happened!
Today has been a very, very lazy day. I’ve been trying to finish my current book for ages (Brick Lane). I haven’t enjoyed it terribly but didn’t want to give up on it. Ever since Wednesday I’ve been in possession of all of this winter’s Richard and Judy Book Club reads (there’s ten which I managed to get as a set for £30). I’ve been desperate to start reading one! Anyway I finished Brick Lane this afternoon so now which one shall I start with………??? Happy Good Friday everyone!

you have been a busy bee! Thanks for the piccie of the Chloe bag, I will have to check out my website, see what they have nowadays.
haven’t visited for a while.
love the jelly bean bull. were they jelly bellys? v. yum, and I am not really a jelly bean person. so to speak!
I can’t wait until humbug goes in for the Easter parade at school! such fun. I’ve been lucky enough to go to my nephews parades at nursery, but nothing beats seeing your own little ‘um marching around in an Easter bonnet!
crikey o reilly it’s parky today! Cannot believe this wind and rain lark! I am sooooooooooo hoping for a bit of snow, I think it would be an Easter miracle!

Good evening, Nikki !

Oh well, I see we’ve had the same weather today, and are predicted to get the same weather too, this weekend. I hope the boys will get to see some flakes !
Goodness, you’ve been busy like a bee ! The pizza looked VERY yummy, but oh my, what a little scare about the fire next door !!
The shopping centre sounds like lots of fun ! In the mall next door they sell Jelly Beans, but I guess it’s the only place in France !
I’ve remodelled the “whole” site this afternoon, so if you have a minute the next few days, I’d love to see you there !
Have a peaceful & wonderful & cozy Easter weekend with your loved ones, my friend. OXOXOX Take good care. Big hugs

easter miracle indeed! When I found your email it was snowing. nowhere near as heavily as yours. About 40 minutes later it was a lot thicker and it’s still snowing now! Humbug has been out in it, and had a great time. I’m hoping it will snow while she has her nap, so it really builds up and we can build that nanman!
Looks quite bright out there, I hope the sun doesn’t come out just yet and melts it all!
Just added a couple of piccies to my diary.
Right. I’ve made us a fab late breakkie, roast tomatoes, bacon, bubble & squeak and a fried egg. We’ve also snaffled a big wedge of cake too! should keep us going until later this afternoon. We’re eating around 3.30 so we can eat with humbug, she can have the same as us and it will make a nice change to be able to eat at the same time.
Right now, I’m going to relax and read the cupcake book!
