he’s home :o)

Didn’t want to write anything any sooner in case it didn’t happen but Dave arrived home about an hour ago! The day started with him ringing me around 8.30am to say that the doctors had been to see him and said that he needed another day of intravenous antibiotics. We were both very disappointed of course. I tried to go back to sleep to no avail but after a while I came to the conclusion that him staying in and coming home tomorrow might be a good omen! After all, 2007 hasn’t been the best of years what with the death of his mum and our friend, Wal. He’s had lots of bad luck with his health such as the hernia which set him back months. Then there was me struggling to cope with the worst class I’ve ever had! So I thought, ok, I will hate him not being here to celebrate the new year with BUT maybe 2008 will be better. Well, about an hour after thinking that, he rang to say that the chief consultant Professor Nicholson had just been in and said that provided he had one more dose intravenously, he could take the rest of the course orally! He even drove himself home! He’s currently languishing on the sofa with his dogs :) Phew, another crisis over. He’ll have his new tube put in in about two weeks so that he can resume dialysis as soon as possible. Fingers crossed that there are no problems with it as it can be a tricky thing to get right. If it’s the same as last time, he’ll have it done under local anaesthetic and heavy sedation. Oh gosh, it’s been a very up and down day today but what a lovely feeling it is to know that he’s home safe and sound. I’m leaving him on his own (well with the dogs!) for a while rather than bombard him with questions and lots of fuss! Huge thanks to Sadie for her wonderful offer, and to Elizabeth too for the thought :) And to everyone else for helping me get through this, it really, really helps to know that people care. Mustn’t leave out my mum who will probably read this at some point …. grateful thanks for everything you’ve done in the last few days, very much appreciated :)

Look at this gorgeous gift received from dear Ashild this morning! Perfect for my newly decorated blog :) Thank you my friend!

  1. I’m just thrilled that Dave is back home, and you can celebrate together :) Just as it should be.

Oh, yes, Cranford. How brilliant was it? I loved it so much. Made me laugh, how they were always nosing out of the windows and gossping about everyone  Some of the more grizzly bits had me turning away. The leg part for example, and I was blubbing like a baby when the little boy died. At least it didn’t paint a totaly grim picture in the manner of Dickens. I really enjoyed it though, and I had a pretty strong feeling you would too :)

Well, time I was off. Am doing cod with bacon on a bed of mash for tea ..see what you are missing out on ?! ;)

Have a fab time tonight, take it easy. The firworks shouldn’t wake girly magoo, but you never know. Hope your doggies are ok with the fireworks too.
lots of love to you, welcome home Dave lad, no more scares for Nikki, please!
