The last three or so years, Dave has done all the cooking while I’ve been responsible for all the housework. (It works really well and stops all feelings of resentment!). But since he’s been convalescing I’ve had to go back in the kitchen. I was actually quite nervous about it even though I’ve spent 20+ years of my life being chief cook and bottle washer! I think it was because Dave is a superb cook/chef. Men seem to have more imagination than women in the kitchen. I tend to rely on cookery books and recipes whereas Dave will frequently make it up as he goes along. If I did that it would be a disaster! Anyway, all has gone well I’m thankful to say and I haven’t forgotten how to do it, phewww!
Yesterday was a busy day as Dave had a hospital appointment. We’re a bit stuck on the transport front as Dave won’t be able to drive for up to six weeks and I don’t drive. My mum is on hand to take us shopping when ever we need to which is great. However yesterday we decided to take a bus to the hospital. Bus services are very good around here…but then they need to be as we don’t have a train link here 
All went well except that, of course, when you’re using public transport things take much longer. But we had all day so it was really quite pleasant. Dave had his wound checked, his tube replaced and the usual tests done. His consultant wants him to stay off the dialysis for as long as possible to give the hernia the best chance of healing. Apparently it takes 42 days for a hernia repair to reach it’s optimum healing.
Today we’ve spent a glorious day relaxing and sunbathing in the garden. Sheer bliss! The book I’m reading at the moment is compulsive so it suited me fine to just lie in the hammock! Here’s a couple of photos I took this afternoon, do they make sunglasses for dogs??
Lastly I’ve added a ‘Meez‘ at the bottom of the right hand side bar. My friend Sadie told me about these. What fun! They’re totally customisable.

I use the bus all the time, I don’t drive either, and we do have a train… that can be cheaper than the bus but then depends were you need to go!
I hope Dave continues to do well..

Hi Nikki Glad to hear that Dave is doing so well but can imagine your anger at the Doctor’s receptionist the other day. What a dragon! Glad you managed to hold your own in the kitchen too, I quite enjoy cooking but there are times I’d rather be doing something else so hurrah for Lloyd Grossman pasta sauces et al
Glad you are enjoying your hammock and have had the weather to use it, it sounds idyllic. I like the look of your new nail polish, very pretty. I am hopeless with my nails (never used to be, have totally got out of the habit of caring for them) so must treat myself to a manicure soon. I have always thought the perfect job would be thinking up names for Nail varnish colours, I could so do that. Gis a job! Love the photos of the dogs, they look so happy

I love your meez!Such fun aren’t they? I change mine twice a day, once in the morning and then again at night, because – and this shows how stupid I am – I don’t like her wearing her make up overnight! :n I added a photo today, after Bill took a picture of me. He thought it was hysterically funny that I was dressed exactly like Meez, but that’s why I change her each day, so she looks a bit like me!
Sorry about the transport hassle, but yes, you are right, if you have all day it’s not so bad. Glad Dave is getting on ok.
Made my fish pie. I tried Gary Rhodes recipe once, or was it Jamie Olviers, not sure now. I think it was GR’s, anyway, he had boiled eggs and spinach in it, so I did it that way but wasn’t keen. Mine is quite plain really, with lots of prawns, salmon and haddock today instead of cod.
I got a pic of the insides of the pie, and will add it to the food diary later on.
ok, I must go. Have only just finished in the kitchen and have promised self a nice cold glass of wine while humbug is asleep.

you purchase stuff using ‘coinz’, which I was going to buy some of a while back, because I want the Hermès style one they have. Then I realised I had some coinz. If someone signs up through your meez then you get 5 coinz for it! I can’t be sure, but I think the person who signs up gets coinz too.
I found I had 5, so bought my wedding ring and some earrings with them, then kicked myself, cos I should have bought the Hermès style bag they have! Doh! Maybe I will buy some coinz soon, so I can buy that bag! :
I knew I was addicted to changing my meez when the other week I was looking through the clothes options and I wailed out ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’!!! ha ha ha!

p.s can’t believe boring Kara – Louise is still in the BB house. I didn’t like Amy very much, but now I realise it’s because of Carol. She kept muttering about how Amy was targeting Liam because of his loot, which made everyone think she was sly. Now I disagree. I don’t think she was particularly nice, but I don’t think she was after his money, and, Liam has shown himself to be bit of a Ziggy style piglet this week, I think. He was jealous of Brian and Amanda.
