it’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas!

Well what a surprise …. turned up for work today only to be told that we have the day off as the heating has broken down! After the shock of it all had sunk in I realised that it was an excellent day to have off as our town is holding a huge Christmas market :) Of course, there were a few disadvantages in that we had to cancel our town park carol service and postpone the upper school’s Christmas party. Having a day off unexpectedly is quite a treat and the timing couldn’t be better as I had been wondering where I’d find the time to do the rest of my Christmas prep. So I’ve spent the morning strolling around the market with my mum (the continental part was the best, lots of yummy food!). I’ve just wrapped all the kids presents (see photo below). I think it’s pretty obvious what they are but I like to make them look a bit special….it occurred to me this morning as I was printing off all the gift tags, that at one time I used to draw them all myself (in the days when there was no such thing as beautiful printable computer graphics such as Graphic Garden). I would painstakingly draw or paint up to 34 little tags!.

I’ve also taken a couple of photos of our tree. I love it……I tried to capture it through every colour change but it didn’t happen! I like to perch the odd bird in it now and then :) Yesterday was spent writing the rest of my cards, they’re finally posted although I fear I may have forgotten a few people. I keep the same list year by year and it always saddens me when I have to cross one off, this year it’s been Dave’s lovely mum and our dear friend Wal :(

Tomorrow is party day for the children. We do lots of traditional party games, have a few bits to eat and then Santa arrives at the end. Lots of fun and I especially love to see the children in their party clothes….some of the girls have the most adorable outfits! We finish school on Wednesday and then I’ll be getting us ready for our trip down to Dorset to be with Dave’s daughter and grandchildren, can’t wait!

  3. oh for the love of God. I forgot the anti spam word. I was told to fill it in, pressed ‘back’ and *ta da* my comments has vanished. I am well huffy about it now! :em54: :em54: :em54:

Hope you had a great day at school. Love that you give your kiddies a pressie, bet they are thrilled.

Your tree is very pretty, and no needles to hoover up. I was hoovering at 6.45 this morning, while humbug had her brekkie with Daddy (and the door tightly shut), was surprised at the amount of needles I got from under the tree.

Yikes. sounds like girly magoo is awake half an hour earlier than I hoped. Better go and see her. :)

  4. hello! me again. your resident stalker. :) Just tried the dress on girly magoo, and she LOVED it. She is so my daughter, happy in jeans, happy in pretty frocks. :) Anyway, got some corking pics of her, must share them tomorrow. I’d taken her hair down in prep of bathtime, and it was mad and crazy.

The dress is burgundy satin underneath, with a coffee/cream lace over the top and the burgundy ribbon around the waist. It’s quite long, but not full length. She looks like a little Victorian girl in it. I may have to tie a huge ribbon in her hair to complete the look. It’s for Christmas Eve. I’ll dress her in her cream tights and black patent shoes. She will look perfect.

No, no idea where the sodding meringues came into things. If we were huge meringue fans I could understand it, but like you say, just where are they meant to fit in????!!!!
I think it’s partly because she can’t bear to not be the one doing all the arranging and cooking. She much prefers it when everything is held at hers, and she’s The Hostess. I’m sure she meant well, but when I heard it I just thought what the *$&@?!
