that's interesting that you should mention nets. Back when my parents home was burgled, they didn't have nets. And, at that time, they rarely shut the curtains at night. which is mental when you think about it now. Talk about giving creepy crims an easy time. I have said to Bill in the past that I think we should have nets for exactly this reason, but he hates them. I am not a fan, but if it keeps us a bit safer then I'm all for it. So it's something being reviewed and discussed at the moment.

I hope they catch the swine who did it too. It makes me spit, good, honest folk are out working hard for their money, and low life shite like that come along and just take stuff because they are too idle and drug addled to actually put in the effort themselves.

I hope despite the crappy week you've had, you can have a nice weekend. xxxxx

Nikki. Just read your comment. I am so so so sorry about what has happened.
Yes, this has happened to me. Not here (thank God, it's why I'm so obsessed with setting the burglar alarm), it was when I lived at home with my mum and dad. We were burgled one night, when no less than 9 of us were asleep upstairs. What was really scary was it was obvious they would have had stanley knives, and at that time I used to wander downstairs in the middle of the night to get a glass of water. I never bothered turning lights on, I'd just go down in the dark. Thank God that that particular night I didn't go down. Most unusual because it was something I did every night. Can you imagine if I had done so that night? There were three of them, and unlucky for them we didn't have much of value, so they only got the video, some headphones and a bottle of whisky. However, the police did catch them, so you never know.

I know how disgustingly horrible and I'm absolutely certain that this is why the slightly noise during the night has me wide awake now, and prowling around to check all is ok. It makes you nervy and jumpy. It is incredibly upsetting to think of some filthy moron putting his grimy theiving hands all over your home. I hope they do catch him/them and if they aren't from these shores, fingers crossed they send the wasters back to whence they came. Did any of the neighbours hear or see anything?

Sorry you've had this on top of everything else. Absolutely rotten luck. :( xxxx

It's working!!! After the chock I forgot to write more :em62: Well, I'm finally on a lil trip to visit old friends. Times fly too fast at my age - a very good excuse for laziness ;-) I'm sad to read about your lost. Dear mom...I know that feeling so well Nikki. I'm so glad you have your dear Dave by your side though. Well, even I'm not a good bloger/browser, I'm still here, and often thinking of you. Have a happy May! Warm hugs from me :em70:

 glad I gave you a chuckle! I am here to cheer!

well, call me a total sap, but I am so pleased Panda will be with you now. I bet your mum is pleased too. I was hoping so much you'd decide you needed to keep her. :)

Ah, the sourcing of fabrics. Such a total delight! I've got two corking good sites if you ever need to buy some fabric online. The total for my frock (which has changed quite a bit since I took the photo) is around £45, including the boning stuff and ribbon roses, not bad at all. Made a slight hash of the back, so have unpicked and am going to tackle again the Morn.

And yes, you are a total nut if you get a puppy on top of the little zoo you already have. But then, if I had the choice/chance, I would have at least 4 cats. My happiest cat days were a long time ago, when my cat Pepsi had kittens (one of which was my beloved Hamish who lived to be almost 14), we had 6 cats for a while and I loved every minute. :) Hope you get a puppy! xxxx

hello!
well, I saw half of the Kirstie programme last night. Wasted half an hour of my life watching the most boring and unfunny episode of My Family ever written. I feel robbed!

Loved the quilts, and am with her with her love of them. I could never make my own. I'm too slapdash and can't be fiddling about with measuring and doing things 'properly'. My diary entry today proves it!
I still find the whole thing grating with me though. I agree with you when you said it could have been just what we all needed to see to 'cheer us up' so to speak in difficult times, but I still think it's gone horribly wrong. She just seems to boast all the time. Perfect example was last night, just how many times could she say 'the 5 bedrooms in Meadowgate'. By the end of it I was sarcastically saying 'how many bedrooms have you got then?'. Ok, it's a lovely house, and I am sure if it was me I'd be banging on about how many bedrooms/bathrooms/room for ponies I had too, but good grief! She needs to wind her neck in sometimes!
I just wish they'd done it a little differently. For example how to get the look and style of expensive stuff on a budget and by making it yourself. Rather than trotting off to all these people (that normal folk would never get the chance to do) and waffling on about what great prices things are.

Time I was off. I need to get my spinning wheel out as I'm going to spin my own wool for the carpet I'm in the process of weaving, I've shaved Dudley's fur off so I can use that. I'll be dyeing it with onion skins and beetroot. Then it's off to see Terence Conran for advice on bespoke sofas, followed by a quick chat to the folks at Designers Guild. Have marvellous idea for some hand printed gold leaf dipped wallpaper that they might enjoy ;) Might squeeze in a visit to that knitting woman after that, so I can learn how to knit a Kaffe Fassett styleee coat! ;) ;) ;) xxxxx

p.s our Dunelm excitedly announced 'new craft section' on the front of their shop. I scooted in and found a very sad and disappointing teeny tiny little section. They didn't have much that caught my eye, as it was the same stock carried by The Range. I know the LA kits you speak of, and love them. Nice colours and patterns offered by the LA section. Love your idea for a book for your mum. Perfect.

ooh, and I'll have to get into Gap. Prices sound not too bad. If you stop by today, the dress is from Peacocks. Fingers crossed it's a decent fit. Don't want The Girls oozing out of the top! xx

Hi Nikki, Just happened to look at your blogg for the first time in a very long time and saw your news about your Mum. I'm so sorry - what a terrible shock it must have been. I do know some of what you are feeling - time does heal but I still miss my Mum's phone calls after nearly 5 years - as you say mother's are very special people in our lives which we never fully appreciate at the right time!
Glad to read that Dave is now OK again - you must deserve a medal in stress management!
I was looking at your website after having had a run on Balls Park memories following a contact via Friends Reunited from Peter Sharpe who in spite of a number of e-mails and photo prompts from him I still have no memory of whatsoever - which is very sad as he claims to have been in love with me for at least a term in our first year!!! Very spooky!
We're all OK and managing without Peter who's now in Iraq for 6 months. We were hoping he was going to come home for a few days this month but that has now been cancelled - now hoping on a few days in June but trying not to think about it too much in case it doesn't happen again!
Thinking of you
love, Celia
