I do feel tired tonight so it’s a good job there’s only 3 more days left before the half-term break. Dave has the week off as well so we’re trying to plan out what we’re going to do. This is always a good idea as if we don’t make plans, we end up having long lie-ins and wasting the day! I can see a few days out shopping beckoning. Cambridge or maybe Nottingham, not sure which yet. The only problem with being a teacher is that we have the same holidays as the kids! So everywhere is always busy whenever I go anywhere. And of course there’s the age old problem of having to pay twice as much for our holidays! Is it any wonder that parents take their children on holiday during term time? I absolutely don’t blame them one little bit. And it really annoys me that they get penalised for doing it. I actually think this whole big fuss about authorised and unauthorised attendance has got totally out of hand. Surely the initial aim was to stop truancy and to fine parents who don’t send their children to school? What we now have are schools desperately trying to get their attendance figures up and parents sending their children to school regardless of whether they’re fit enough. Truancy, in particular, does NOT apply to 3 – 7 year olds!
We had sad news yesterday when we heard that our dinner lady had broken her ankle very badly and probably won’t be back with us until next term (September). She’s a good friend and very much loved by my class so we miss her very much. Today we spent some of the morning drawing lovely big pictures which I’m putting together to make one big card. She actually did it by falling off a kerb wearing high wedges….something I wear all the time, and I know how vulnerable I feel in them sometimes!
The weather continues to be miserable and the forecast is for more rain over the bank holiday
Oh and here’s a pic of the card we made……it’s completely covered back, front and middle with the pictures the children did and stands about 2ft high.

Awwww what a cute card….those things always make me feel better! Hope it works
Sounds like you are in need of a nice long vacation…hmmm………what island do you want to escape to!? *S* Have a nice week sweetie!
Hi Nikki,
Sounds like you need a break. I hope you get to go shopping like you had hoped!! Your blog looks great.
Hey I watched American Idol last night and it was wonderful. In case you haven’t watched it I won’t spoil it in your own blog but I did post in mine about it. I love Elliot too and I think he’ll still manage to do well somehow.
Have a great day!
Hello sweetie !
(everything is @ my blog, including LOTS of pics !)
I’ll be working on them ASAP, I worked few at the computer the last 3 days.
Sorry I didn’t stop earlier, we had a couple of busy days, but great ones !
Oh yes, I got your email concerning the customs, sweetie. Sorry for not letting you know about it, I’m sorry.
Oh, as I’m typing this, it will be one day left until your week’s vacation. I understand how much you may need it, young children (+ all the -paper- work at home) are easily exhausting !!! So don’t tell about many of them at once !! Eeek !
Summer has come here, it’s already so hot during the day … pfff … I hope it’ll cool a bit until summer is really here, with really warm nights … (I HATE those !)
I read on Elizabeth’s diary that you’ll be going to Italy !! Wooohooo ! I love Italy & I went there twice. Once around Piacenza, plus Bologna, Parma … & then in Venezia. Gotta love Italy ! -Elizabeth already knows how much I love Italy, eheh !-
OK, just wanted to stop now the boys are in bed. Sending you my warmest & sunniest hugs & my best regards to Dave !! OXOXOXOXOX
Oooooh, was forgetting to tell that I was sorry about the dinner lady, I hope she’ll recover soon for this. Children made a beautiful & thoughtful card for her, I bet she’ll appreciate so much !
And, I also hope you’ll get a warme & sunnier weather soon, sweetie.
OXOXO
That card is so cute. I bet you all had a ball making it for your “dinner lady.” That expression is so much more colorful than “cafeteria manager.” I guess they’re the same job.
I know you’ll enjoy your little vacation. You are so right about planning. I have only been “free” for a few hours and can’t yet decide where to start. We had an after school party, so after that I think I’ll just take it easy. Tomorrow, who knows? It’s just so lovely having so many choices.
I’m watching a Da Vinci type show on The Travel Channel right now. Do post a comment when you see the movie. Hugs, J
Hi Nikki!
Awww.. the card is so cute… and what a beautiful thought.
I have had a busy week…working almost from 0800 in the morning until midnight every day this week… ( I’m in a project at work)…so on Tuesday we’ll make our newspaper with a new datasystem… Oh… I hope everything goes well. So you see, I havn’t had time to watch the movie “The Da Vinci Code” yet. I hope my hubby and I can watch the movie next week. I’ve to work this weekend too… but luckily I can work at home on my LapTop.
Puh… I feel like a bad mother… working, working, working. But it’ll have an end… after our summerholiday everything goes back to normal… I hope!
In the middle of this… we’ve bought a new house… moving in August… puh! The garden around the house is so beautiful!
Have a wonderful weekend Nikki!
Hugs Bente
