…which it almost is of course. But as one of my biggest bugbears is hearing people say things like “Oh it’s been an awful summer” in May, I will refrain from speaking of summer too soon. 12 more days it says on my countdown plugin. According to the Daily Mail today, we’re likely to be getting a large influx of wasps and hornets when summer does arrive. Yikes I’m such a coward where wasps are concerned! I love bees as they do good things and generally ignore you but wasps, what do they do? And why do they harrass you?
Today I’ve been sunbathing in the back garden for much of the afternoon after having lunch with a friend who I’ve been Saturday lunching with for the last twenty years or so. Although this week I stayed in my own town rather then venturing out to the better shopping town centres, I did manage to find two bargain skirts from Dorothy Perkins, both originally £25 reduced to £7 and the perfect length for me (just on the knee). I’m tickled pink to have found them as they’re just what I’ve been looking for for months and had been brought in from another, larger and better D.P.’s (ours is quite small). Here’s a link to one of them, the other I can’t find on the site. skirt
I’m not likely to get any reports done this weekend (thank goodness I’m so far on with them) as tomorrow we’re lunching with one of Dave’s colleagues who has a male cocker spaniel. Both men have fixed up a blind date for the male and our Charley who’s a female three year old cocker spaniel. So we’re introducing them to each other tomorrow and if they get on ok we’ll be getting them together again when Charley’s next in season which should be around September/October. Eeek, my little baby!
I find it daft when folk say what poor summer we have had before its even had chance to happen.. say it in August is fair enough!..
I hate wasps as well, I love to see the bees but wasps can buzz off..
I love the skirt you bought very summery
Good luck with your match making for Charley..
Enjoy the rest of you weekend
Hugs Pixie
Hello sweetie !
And what a price !
Yeah for the skirt on sale, I just saw it & it’s simply gorgeous !!
I hope you’ll have the weather you hope for this coming summer. I hope mine won’t be too hot because the last years were way too hot for me ! I hope Parisian summers are a little less hot, and they should be.
I wish you a lovely Sunday tomorrow & send you all my love OXOXOX
Congratulations on your skirts, I love the one you showed us. It’s nice to finally find something you were looking for
I hope the two cockers go well, are you sure their pedigrees are not too similar? Have a great Saturday night & Sunday, big hugs
Sounds like a great weekend! (Forget the annoying reports for awhile.) The skirt is v. cute and so much more fun as a bargain. Will you be getting a puppy if things materialize? I know I hate hearing people complain about summer; it’s heaven to teachers! I guess they just don’t understand. I put a little link to a Susan Branch fan on my site today; haven’t written anything else lol. Must run! Hugs, Julia
bargain hunter! I love a good bargain.
hmm, wasps. After the wasp nest incident earlier on this year, I’m none too keen on the blighters!
Still, I don’t bother them if they don’t bother me. Bill however, is different. If one comes within a two metre radius, he starts flapping his arms like a bird trying to take off. Actually, it’s quite funny to see him suddenly freak out like that. He always turns to look at me to see if I notice, and I will raise my eyebrows and say ‘did he have a gun?’ because from the panic in Bill the waspy must have been armed in something stronger than a sting!
hope you’ve had a good Sunday. Not so sunny here today, but rather muggy.
right. humbug is crying so I had better go and see what she needs. lots of love xxxx
Sooo, you don’t like wasps?!? Me neither! They are too silent this year. We don’t hear them at all, and I find them everywhere…in bed, behind boxes in the kitchen, inside our shoes…everywhere! My hubby is sooo alergic to them. Last time they hit him his hand looked like a ballon! Besides of that I like your style for clothes! Give me a tip, I need something nice for a wedding three weeks from now
We have such a beautiful june, almost too hot! In southern Norway nobody is complaining!
Thanks for your sweet mail! Happy you like my lil reader
Happy week to you Nikki! You’re so sweet!
Hi Nikki Hope you had a nice weekend and that Charley’s blind date went well. I hate wasps too, but at the moment we seem to be absolutely plagued with flies. Did you see in Saturday’s Daily Mail the article about Dog friendly places to holiday called “Fido came too” ? I have cut it out for future reference. Love the skirt – What a bargain. Hope you have a wonderful week xxxx
Hi Nikki, glad to see you are enjoying Summer

morning Nikki. How are you this week?V. quiet, I take it you are busy or enjoying the sunny weather when you’re back from school.
been a bit too muggy for my liking, I am craving a big huge storm!
are you still watching Big Brother?! Oh My God, I want to get in there and sort out that Charley girl. She is one nasty piece of work. How two faced and big mouthed is she? She sits moaning about absolutely everyone, then gets into rows saying that she never talks about anyone!!! Duh! I hope when she gets booted out, that Davina gives her a hard time for being such a horrible person. And I wish she’d stop looking at herself all the time. Vain and horrible. I think that sums her up. I hope so much that she doesn’t get photo ops or tv work when she’s out, she’d turn even more big headed than she already is.
on that note, I shall be off. xxxx
Hi Nikki You must be busy this week – hope all is well lots of love xxx
