I’ve been truly blessed this week by the kindness of friends. Firstly my dear friend Sadie, who makes all the gorgeous mood girls, made me and sent me an absolutely adorable brooch to wear on my velvet coat. It’s a pink rose, made from felt and embellished with beads, a fabulously unique and highly imaginative work of art! Here’s some photos of it on my coat.
I’m the envy of my friends! It’s very special when someone you’ve never met in person makes something for you, thank you my friend! Sadie has also sent me two delightful Little Mulberry siggies…gorgeous!!

Then to cap a lovely week, I received this wonderful adoption from my friend Siobhan at Lillyskites . One more cutie to add to my rather magnificent collection here .

It’s been a super week all in all. The children are an absolute joy and continue to amaze me with what they’re capable of doing. I have to now boast that after just 7 weeks since I started teaching them the alphabet, I now have half the class able to read and spell (or blend and segment as we call it in teacher jargon) three letter words such as hat, bag, pet etc. At one time this sort of thing wasn’t expected of children until they were into their second year at school. Just shows what can be done!
We officially started Christmas on Tuesday when we cast our play for this year. Then on Thursday we started practising in earnest! This year we’ll be doing ‘Donkey For Sale’, a purely traditional nativity which the parents will love. No prizes for guessing what happens to the donkey in our play
We usually do a Nativity in Reception….apart from the two years when we had Jehovah’s Witness children and we had to do plays which didn’t mention the ‘evil’ word!
I’m having a peaceful and relaxing weekend with no requirements to go anywhere and very little school work to do. A mountain of washing but that’s about all. I intend to start knitting a little stripey cardigan for the baby and do a bit of decorating here. The weather has been lovely this week….icy in the mornings and bright and sunny during the day. Proper autumn!

I just lost a comment but will return. This one is a test!
Okay, I’m back. Your Christmas season with the little ones sounds so charming. I was under the impression you taught in what we call a public school. Is that correct? Ours are becoming so secular over here.
Anyway, everything looks so delightful here, but it always does! I bought Caroline’s new set awhile ago and hope to play with that over the weekend. It’s the season for coziness, isn’t it?
Hoping you and yours are well! Hugs, Julia
Hi Nikki Oh I used to love the Christmas season when Holly was at Infants and Juniors, there was so much excitement and fun in the winter term. Well done on having so many children spelling 3 letter words, what an achievment. I’m having a quiet weekend too, I love just pottering around and not doing very much – I think I’d have made a good hermit
What lovely gifts you received, you have had a lucky week

Hi Nikki!
Just wanted to stop by and say HI since I have a few minutes all for myself this afternoon. Aww, while I’m tagging you, a lovely sunset is visible from my balcony door: clouds seem pink and orange cotton candies! Wow! Love the new cuties in your Adoption Shoppe, will be back ASAP to adopt a couple of them. Have a happy evening!
