nasty weather!

A little soggy here in the UK, yuk! Last week we had beautiful weather, come the weekend….rain, rain and more rain. Yes I know the garden needs it, but why at the weekend??! So I did what a girl just has to do when the weather is bad….went shopping! New sandals and new skirt, very essential stuff ;) In view of the weather I thought this might be a good time to post my beautiful new Minimes from Sonia :)

Beautiful! By Sonia

Had some worrying news Friday night about Dave. His doctor rang to say that his potassium level is rather high. One of his meds actually adds potassium and that, combined with the fact that his kidneys are no longer flushing it out, means that we have to watch very carefully what he eats. He’d been doing ok up until his last blood test 3 weeks ago which showed this rise. When I looked it up on the internet, I was shocked to see that the level he’s at is within danger territory. Too much potassium can be highly dangerous. So I’ve banned him from various things (cider being one of his big downfalls!). Amazing how many foods and drinks contain potassium.

After a very busy week, last week, of various meetings – some after school, I’m looking forward to a much quieter week. We’re almost reaching the point in the year where many of the children reach their peak and are ready to move on. There are still a few, most of them the youngest in the class, who haven’t reached their full potential yet and I’m hopeful that they will have a learning push in the last few weeks. This is the term we work on independence and responsibility, ready for their move to the next year. Provided the weather is good, it’s usually a lovely term when we’re able to spend much of our time outside!

    Hi Nikki!
So sorry that you didn’t have a beautiful weather this weekend. I’ll send some over the North Sea:) The weather here this weekend have been so beautiful over 20 degrees and sunny and we have spend the days at the terrasse. But it’s very windy and a lot of fire in the district. By the way, I also love U2. Have a most wonderful week Nikki! Hugs Bente

    Hey good seeing ya over.

I went out with hubby yesterday and we both bought walking shoes! And took them our for a “spin” after our evening meal.
I also got a few items, a jacket [hubby choose it ;) ] and a few sleeveless tops.

Really layin’ low this morning. I will possibly go out later with hubby to look at Open Houses.

Hey I will say a prayer for Dave. We don’t want him to be anywhere near a danger point.

Good to hear about how school children have for the most part gotten to the year end plateau. And can easily imagine how glorious the weather is for you all.

Here we are having what is called the marine layer. A light layer of clouding. Which means I can still wear light jackets. :)

That is fun to me after living in the tropics for so long. BTW your lil’ girl above with the Haku on reminds me well of my daughter on Maui!

Have a splendid week. I will be thinking of you both. hugz

Oh, Nikki, I just came to look but had to comment on Dave. I know you are worried sick, but it sounds like you’re going to help him stay on track. My sister – long story – had a wonderful cancer surgeon who told her to ignore the 95% bad prediction they gave her and also said statistics do not fit anybody and mean nothing – concentrate on doing what you always have done to keep you going. Sorry, didn’t mean to preach, but he was so wonderful. She’s still with us 3 1/2 years later.

Oh, sorry about the Lissa – she used to have more on buttons – maybe I sent you the wrong page. I think they don’t show up right in all browsers, as I meant to say. Go for it if you can.

I mentioned you in my little post today; hope that’s okay. I don’t think any nuts are coming to my page. The shoutbox I have is supposed to be improved over regular Wordspew but spam was not mentioned, so I’m just waiting to see.

You must be so worried about Dave but you are doing the right thing in changing his diet. That will help.

Rain has arrived in Shropshire today, although it is still mild, it is grey outside..the sun has gone!

I just heard at the end of the week, the Head this year is accepting my application for Voluntary Redundancy. Of course I am accepting!

    Have a great day, Nikki!

Nikk, I love this new theme! It looks really pretty and has a calming effect.

I’m sorry to hear about Dave, and I hope he’s able to get his potassium levels under control. Too bad he can’t give me the excess, as I have the opposite problem and am often low on potassium.

I hope your weather gets better soon!
