oh dear!

Not sure where the time has gone but no blogging done purely down to lack of inspiration. Maybe it’s the time of year but my life feels pretty hum drum at the moment…..day in day out at school etc. Not that I’m complaining but it leaves me feeling I have nothing of interest to say or show.

School started back two weeks ago and has been decidely stressful mainly down to the behaviour of a couple of my boys. Hard to believe that two four year olds can cause so much stress for an experienced teacher! Before Christmas they were doing well and understanding why we have to have rules and boundaries. Two weeks off and we’re back to square one. Signs of improvement towards the end of last week so fingers crossed!

We’ve had a delightful weekend with Dave’s daughter and family staying. We also had my friend’s dog, Bertie, staying so it’s been pretty hectic, but hugely enjoyable  Robyn is terrible twoing at the moment which I love……I think it’s fascinating to watch children of that age trying to assert themselves! Tyler, who is six, spent most of his time making things with construction sets I borrowed from school.

I am with you on the hum drum feeling and yes I have had a touch of the flu, with fibro was not a good combo! slowly feeling better.

I hope those two trouble makers realise that you know best and settle down to goodness ;)

Love the photos of Tyler and Robyn..

    Have a great week

Hi Nikki, I’m lacking inspiration as well, but still posting even if is about something inane. I still have my usual WP blog as well as my Simple Women’s Daybook blog, where I will be posting once a week. It’s fun and hopefully I will become a little more imaginative with my posts  . Sounds like you’ve had a full house lately, the little ones are adorable! I enjoyed looking at all the pics you posted, especially the doggies, they are sweet. Yes I’m afraid I too am addicted to Twilight, although I have slowed down with the third book, I’m anxious to finish all four so I can move on to something else. *hugs*

    Hi sweetie ! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by ! :) I’ve been blog post productive these days but I think it’ll slow down as we’ll get closer to the moment we’ll move. So I try to make the most of it now :)
Oooh two trouble makers … I hope they’ll both be good boys again soon.
Oh what fun to have had Dave’s family at home ! Something to keep you busy too !
I hope you’ll have a nice week, and and I also hope you & Dave are doing fine.
Big hugs your way ! xoxoxo

Actually, I can imagine how frustrating it must be to an experienced teacher to have such disprutive little ones in her class. Must be infuriating to make progress then have it all go out of the window during hols. One can imagine the reason why.

Aw litlte R and her terrible twos! I think humbug is dealing well with her ‘tt’s', I’ve found that giving her options is the best way to get her to do what I want! It doesn’t always work, but for some situations it’s perfect. An example is when it’s time for nap. There is always a song and dance if you say ‘right, time for bed’ so I don’t say it, I say ‘what would you like to take upstairs with you? Better go and collect everything you want’. Works like a charm, for no other reason than I’m not telling her what she’s about to do, but suggesting she does something helpful. I notice the difference at the weekends, when Bill says to her ‘time for a sleep’ Ha ha ha! Meltdown! I keep my mouth shut though, or he thinks I’m just telling him off, but during the week I have no trouble getting her off for her nap!

Glad you had a good weekend, sounds busy and bonkers though! :)

    enjoy the rain! xxx

morning. Gorgeously frosty this morning! I can enjoy it inside, with a pot of tea though :)

Well, who will go. Hmm. I’m sure it will be between Ulrika and either Tommy or Verne. Verne has shown himself to be a bit of a git at times, even though he is so funny. When he rammed his scooter into the door, Brilliant! Or as George Lamb says ‘good times’.

I want Terry to win. What a laid back, happy go lucky bloke he seems. I know they edit the programmes a lot,but you can still get a pretty good picture of people. Ulrika seems grumpy and very stroppy for example, can’t see how they could have edited it to selectively show the ‘odd times’ she was like that!

Loving Masterchef, and yes, the bunch of clowns the other night! I was laughing my socks off at some of the rubbish conjured up there. The bloke with the half chomped carrot and buttery spud! Hilarious. The voice over said ‘whatever his name is, who cooks healthy food’…. hang on… healthy? Half a packet of butter!!! He also looked v. red in the face, which I thought was down to the heat of the kitchen and being close to the oven, but when they showed him at the start before cooking started, he was v. red in the face. So it could have been nerves, but either way, I feared for his heart, especially after seeing his butter cooking!
I agree with the comedy beard geezer too. Did not like his food one jot, and liked his beard even less.
Then last night.. how things changed! 2 totally brilliant cooks, I wanted both to go through. I hope they call the decorator bloke back later, because if memory serves, they normally do that later on. Bring back 6 of the previous best for a second chance.
I still want that young lad from last week to be overall winner, there is something about him that I liked.
I am such a masterchef freak! I love it!

Right. Time for tea and toast. Going to work on the second curtain today, ooh, which reminds me, what is it you have to tell me about my curtains?! I’m on the edge of my seat here! xxxxx

saw your comment, so went to investigate on the local news site. Oh my God. Not surprised you are in shock, what an awful thing to happen. His poor family. How do you cope with something like that?

    Take care today. xxxx

Good morning Nikki, here I am with my first cup of coffee of the day, try to catch up on your life :) Glad you had a delightful weekend with Dave’s daughter and family  lovely photos, btw! Happy Friday and weekend ahead, stay warm and cosy.

hello! I had to chuckle when you made the cushion comment yesterday, as I’d already started working on the chair cover! :) Great minds and all that! I’ve just been tacking a second one, ready for sewing tomorrow. I know what you mean about getting fed up half way through (how I felt with the curtains), but I think I’ll be ok with this. They’re quite basic and simple to make, and once the tacking has been done, take about twenty minutes to whizz together. Which makes it a pretty quick project with instant results, just the sort of thing I like! I can’t even start to describe how lovely it is to see the chairs looking normal again, after all the Dudley damage. If I see him even look at the covers I’ll be bellowing like a foghorn!

Masterchef, wasn’t it tricky last night?! I don’t know who I would have put through, as they were all so good. I’m glad they booted that one out who said ‘take it or leave it’. When she said it (and then failed to recognise almost all the ingredients), I thought ‘bye bye lady’. Stupid thing to say! The Aussie girls food was just amazing, reminded me of that young girl from last year (she of the ‘mud pie and grass’ pud), I wish I had such a good brain when it came to food. Oven chips and chicken kiev are about my limit!

So, the end of CBB. My money is on Terry, or rather that’s who I’m hoping to win. I think it will be Verne, although I’m not sure he deserves it. I like him and he’s made me laugh so much, the driving into the wall is tv gold, but at times he’s been quite snappy and tetchy.

Right. Time I was off. Am half watching ‘Come Dine With Me’ (do you watch that, I am addicted to that too), so going to see who wins.

Have a lovely evening, stay warm though, we had a slight hint of snow this afternoon and it’s been so windy and cold. Loving it!

CBB – fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way. No way!

The only endearing thing Ulrika did during the whole thing, was when doing the pie eating thing, and Tommy said his goolies were stuck. She looked at him with total hate and said ‘that’s attractive’. Had me laughing my boots off, but that’s the only thing she’s done that I enjoyed. Fix. Terry was robbed.

Oh yes, Dave is spot on, when Lesley thingummy did CDWM it was hilarious. The woman cannot cook! She even messed up dessert, which was scooped out pineapple with other fruit bunged inside! Totally brilliant. When they repeat it, try to watch it, because it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on there. Although this weeks episodes came a close second. Love that show!

ok, got to go. fabric shopping and weekly shop, so I need to move my rump and get dressed. Just wanted to check my email first.

Hi, Nikki! Hope you’re recuperating from the houseguests. My brother Jim and his wife were here last weekend, so I’m missing them but glad to not have to fuss around here. Robyn is darling. It is fun to watch any stage from afar; not so delightful when it’s your responsibility. Alexander is approaching two as well and has certainly learned the meaning of no. No news worth repeating. Work is crazy, but that’s the norm. Hope yours is going better!

Hi Nikki Sorry you’re feeling hum drum – but I think that’s a good phrase for how I am too – no inspiration, all my days dash past with regular monotonity – although I did see a unicyclist along the promenade this morning which was unusual :) Sorry you’ve had a disruptive element in your class and hope they’ve settled down by now. Glad you had fun with Robyn and Tyler – they look as though they had a good time too :) I can see from Sadie’s commets you have been watching CBB too – I am feeling quite flat now it’s all over – I’m sure the contraversial one two years ago went on for much longer – ah, for the good old days of 2007! Hope you have a good week lots o f love

  12. sadie says:

sorry you aren’t too good today. HOpe you are better by tomorrow.
Am all finished with the covers. You are right, I HAD to get them done, I had one left to do by the time I went to bed last night, and I was dreaming about getting it done! So sad!

    xxxx

  13. sadie says:

oh dear, sorry you are off sick. Hope you have a quick recovery. :) You didn’t miss much with JK this morning, just the usual wastes of space. I’m getting bored of watching it, it’s the same each day and I can’t help but worry that it’s an example of the sort of people out there. No wonder STD’s are on the increase.

How coincidental about the toys! I wasn’t going to post at all today, then I spied little one playing and thought ‘that’ll do’! :) I love the old toys of my yooof!

DDD is a wretch for scratching. He has had scratchy post things, but never used them. He is NOT going to do it again, so we will just have to get used to shutting the door so he can’t get in. It’s worked with the sofas, he did exactly the same at the back of both of them, so I had to cut up the matching cushions to patch them up. I don’t think I could tackle trying to recover the sofas, and I meant to say, hats off to you for doing just that, I would not have had the courage to even try. Chairs are much easier!

Been ordering more fabric. Safe to say I am addicted, and will be sewing an awful lot more in the months to come! :)

got to scoot. feel better. xxxx

  14. sadie says:

poor you, sound totally grim. You should be here, little one is always saying ‘cheesy otsits mum’! cheeky minx!

I was curled up laughing at that blokes cooking. Wasn’t he the one who said ‘you have to stand back and look at your ingredients’! So he opened a tin of beans, messed up boiling spuds and chopped up bacon. Brilliant!

I’m glad that pud last night tasted better than it looked, it looked gross!

Got to go and change the needle on the machine. I was making a hot water bottle cover (as you do) and managed to snap it. It had to happen!

    Feel better! xx

  15. sadie says:

 got your email! I have replied, and I am so glad you said it!

Hope you are starting to feel much better now.

Loving CDWM this week! Although, I have to say that Flange is doing us no favours at all. We aren’t all quite so stupid as that! Don’t get me started on her singing either!!!!

Have not noticed that butcher bloke before, and I bet the food halls will be pretty busy this weekend with laydeeees trying to catch his eye!

    :) xxxx

  16. sadie says:

just me. wondered if you had posted.

absolutely freezin’ out there today because of the wind. No ice in the bird baths this morning, but Cor Blimey, it’s parky! :) xx
