oh gulp…..

….only one day left, blahhhh! But at least Monday and Tuesday will be easy..ish days. Monday, three of us are going to a local Clarins salon for a head, neck and shoulder massage and facial and then for lunch. It’s been deemed a day for concentrating on our work/health/lifestyle and that’s what we’ve chosen as the best way to improve it! Then on Tuesday it’s a full day in the classroom doing displays, sharpening pencils, naming books and all the other jobs that need doing for a new school year.

Yesterday walking around Cambridge, all I could think about was school hence most of the things I bought were with that in mind. I bought two books, one called ‘Beegu‘ which is just the sort of story four year olds love, all about an ET type character, very moving. Plus a Charlie & Lola book called ‘I Am Too Absolutely Small For School‘….perfect for my new littles :)

Today, with some money I’d been given for classroom use, I bought a beautiful new doll’s house to replace the very shabby one we have in the classroom at the moment.  Dave’s spent the afternoon building it, bless him. Will take a pic of it when I get some new batteries for my camera :)

Yesterday was a lovely treat. Cambridge was relatively quiet without the students. We spent a great deal of time browsing around Borders and drinking coffee in their Starbucks cafe. Then it was on to my two favourite shops The Ark and Breeze where there were lots of lovely things but nothing to really tempt me this time around. In fact I was quite disappointed in the shops generally, especially the clothes shops. I suppose this is one of the trickiest times of the year, I don’t feel I want to start buying all the autumn and winter stuff that’s around yet but equally I don’t want to buy anything from the remains of the summer sales either. I was amazed at how much stock Debenhams still have left over. Racks and racks of summer clothes with 70% off but not one thing appealed. I suppose I have to accept we’re almost into Autumn now…today I turned to September on my Susan Branch calendar and it’s all browns and sunflowers :(

  4. Hi Nikki Well that sounds like an excellent way to get back into the routine. You will all be nice and relaxed and ready to face anything. They look like lovely books you have chosen. My favourites when Holly was small were the Janet and Allan Ahlberg books, in particular Each Peach Pear Plum, I think I have bought that one for every small child I know since then :) I can so understand how you felt when out shopping. There’s nothing worse than wanting to buy something and nothing appeals. Looking forward to seeing the photos of the dolls House Have a good week xxxxx
