…for me and a three day weekend for Dave due to the public holiday on Monday (Whitsun). Today as we drove over to Peterborough we were amazed by the nose to tail caravans going the opposite way which leads to the Norfolk coast! The forecast is abysmal for the next couple of days so those holidaymakers surely won’t have much fun with heavy rain and cool temperatures on their way. Ah well time to huddle together on the sofa and watch a good film! We have The Prestige to watch which we saw at the cinema a few months ago and were enthralled by. We’re also considering going again this weekend to see Zodiac which has some of my favourite actors in and also looks very interesting. Continuing the subject of films we watched The Good Shepherd and Notes on a Scandal last weekend, both of which were excellent. I have to mention the incredible, as always, acting from Judi Dench who plays a menacing lesbian schoolteacher in the latter film. I had already read the book which was written by a very favourite British journalist/novelist of mine, Zoe Heller. I believe that Zoe was the original blogger! I remember years and years ago avidly reading her Daily Telegraph column every week as she dallied with boyfriends and life in New York.
Oops rather a lot of links there
. Bought myself a really pretty dress from Next this afternoon, just looked on the website and it’s not on there so can’t show a picture unless I take one which I will at a later date. I have two pairs of sandals selling on eBay at the moment. Finishing tomorrow evening. I shall of course be following their progress around that time as it’s always great fun watching people trying to outbid each other
. One pair has 14 people watching, no bids yet, the other has one bid with 5 people watching.
I was amazed to see my first cranefly/daddy longlegs of the year this morning in the bathroom! They don’t normally hatch from their ‘pods’ or whatever they are until late August/September time. Yikes, I can’t stand the little b******….and then I went to make breakfast tea and found a humungous live spider in one of the mugs!! Being an arachnaphobe I was lucky to not break the mug. Everything is so spookily early this year!
Hi Nikki, I am so pleased to read you call this coming bank holiday Whitsun… I am not alone any more lol.. was told its now called spring bank holiday!!
Its defiantly chilly compared to what it has been these past few days.
Ideal as you say for watching films..
Good luck with selling your sandals, how funny people are and good sport watching them this way lol.
Eeeekkkkkie at the daddy long legs, I hate them with a passion.. they always dive bomb me.. with the boys rolling with laughter.. and as for spiders.. eeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk big time..
I have seen a few of them indoors… luckily smallish ones.. but still I’d prefer them out side, that I can cope with.
Have a great week off
Hugs Pixie
Hi Nikki Me too – I’ve called it Whitsun on someone’s comments
How exciting to have so many people watching your auction. I have only ever put up one item and there has been no interest at all
I haven’t seen any D-L-L’s yet but I hate them too, although I’m ok with spiders. It’s those big fat buzzy flies I hate at the moment. The minute you open a door or window they seem to be inside and don’t want to go. Hope you enjoy your films and have a fabulous half term. Lots of love xxx
I’ve selected the theme you told me to Nikki, and I love it! It’s gorgeous
Yes, I’d noticed the daddy long legs were able very early, I thought that they’re not normally about until August/September , but I thought it was just the odd one or two. Must be the nutty weather confusing them. I don’t like them. I know they don’t do any harm, but isn’t it the most irritating thing in the world when you switch the light off at night and hear the little gits tap tap tapping along the ceiling? Dud loves to catch them and eat them. Ewww!
oh, and the bird saga. Still none the wiser. No chimneys in this house, so that’s out. No cat flap, so no way another cat could get in without being seen, so no to that too. Dud must have found it and brought it in, but it’s still a mystery as to when exactly and why he didn’t spend the night guarding it. Very odd.
ok. got to go and get ready. Asda first thing. Great!!!
Hi Nikki, I saw part of The Prestige, unfortunately I fell asleep half way through it and haven’t had a chance to watch it again. Have you seen the Illusionist? If you like The Prestige, you may like this film also. Good luck with your sale on e-bay, I believe hubby is selling some DVD’s on e-bay. It’s fun to see how many watchers there are. *hugs*
hello! Just me popping in to wish you a happy Sunday. You are right, I’m totally loving the weather today, though I did not like coming back from Clacton, the A12 was scary, it wouldn’t have bothered me before, but having humbug in the car made me really worry.
xxx
p.s you’ll have to come here to get your Yankee candles. This is where I get mine..

Hi, Nikki, Happy Holiday! You are so right about the delicious beginning of the long holiday. I am at that point right now, with Matthew and family leaving awhile ago and having the leisure to contemplate the eight-week holiday looming ahead. I bought a ticket for Oregon for July – wanted to leave time for anticipation, if you know what I mean. We christened the baby today, a lovely little service – photos on my Flickr. I have only watched one of the movies you mention, but I renewed my Netflix subscription for the summer and will take your recommendations. (The one was The Good Shepherd – saw that at Matt’s at Eastertime.) Have the loveliest of Mondays. Hugs, Julia
