Blahhhh! But I can’t complain as it’s been a lovely restful fortnight off with good weather to boot. Not often that we can say that! Last summer, which was unbearably hot and sticky in July, changed the first Monday of the summer break. We then had six weeks of wet, indifferent weather, only to return to warm and sunny the first Monday back! So maybe this year will be better. I really, really hope it’s not so hot and humid this year though as working in a classroom with 30 sweaty little bodies was not pleasant!!
Yesterday the new dialysis machine arrived. When Dave came to unpack it last night, he found that part of it was broken
He immediately rang Baxters who supply the machine and they offered to bring one out for us last night (the depot is 60 miles away). Dave said he thought it would still work ok so not to worry until today. It DID work fine and was sooooo quiet!! The new one has just turned up and I’m keeping fingers crossed that this one is ok and is as quiet as the other one was! Baxter’s are brilliant and are always there to help at any time of the day.
I’ve realised today that I’m totally addicted to WordPress and creating new themes! I’m never happier than when I’m sat here twiddling around with graphics and xhtml. How sad is that? Don’t I have anything better to do?? YES! I do! (I did make a start on my school work yesterday). Last night I sat here and started drawing as I’d got in my head how good it would be if I could make a theme that was entirely my own. But whether I’d ever have the courage to display it I have no idea. I was really pleased with what I did and may show it in a moment of courage one day soon! After all, I did specialise in Art at teacher training college so I do have some idea of what I’m doing….except that computers weren’t around in those days
To make this post a little less boring, I’m posting a few photos that I took this morning. Two are of my very senior and geriatric cat, Spring…aged 15 years and losing it! It was a difficult one to take as she just wanted to rub around my legs. The other is of a rather sweet little primula, I love the markings on the petals. Click on each pic to make it bigger. Thanks to Jana for this cool plug-in!!

Hi Nikki
thought I would be the first to leave a comment
Sooo glad that you have had a restfull 2 weeks, for me it was busy with moving flats, but at least we had good weather for it, im also off again on my travels, hence the name
will be in london for a few days to do the tourist thing
Hello! Yes, the plimsolls are from Next, as is the dress! I practically live in Next every day (she says, glancing down at her Next jeans and pink Next ballet wrap!) I love their stuff. Can’t wait to get my paws on the dress, I’ve been nagging Bill to order it for me since I first saw it!
I will get my thinking cap on RE christmas cards. I looked up Binca to make sure I knew what you meant. Is it kits that you use, or the actual sewing fabric of it? Once I know that, I can really start thinking about things.
sorry you are back at work soon. Still, not long to go before summer hols is it!?
You had wet weather last summer? Wehad non stop blistering heat. It was miserable. I was breastfeeding and it was just the nastiest time. I am sooooooo glad I don’t have to do that this time round. I’m still b/feeding, but it’s easier now and I don’t have to feed her as often as I did, plus I intend to stop when she’s a year old.
I think you should use your own graphics as one of your wp themes. You should be proud of what you draw. I know only too well how many hours one teeny, tiny graphic can take! I look forward to seeing what you’ve come up with.:)
Lovely photos. that primula is very pretty.
ok. got to go, left humbug in front of the tv (super mum!!!!!!!) have a fab evening xxx
Hehehe… now I see the country theme.. got to love it here.. like a magical box.. never sure what your going to see
I love the photos.. my white cat..will walk away or turn her head! that primula is gorgeous..
Is that a different plugin than the lightbox to make the photo bigger?
That is great on the machine for Dave.. what service and good it quieter for you..
Hugs Pixie
Hi Nikki I used the phrase “to boot” in my entry today probably for the first time ever, so it made me laugh to see you had used it too. Glad you’ve enjoyed your break thus far but boo that it’s nearly over. We (cross fingers) nearly always choose the hottest week of the year for our holiday (It’s a knack
) As we only holiday in the UK because we don’t want to put Sandy into kennels, it’s just as well really. Yes go for it with the graphics – I’ve often wished I could draw, so I could get exactly the look I want for my pages – you should do it. Thanks for the encouragment re: WordPress – I want to host it on my own site and the package I’ve got doesn’t have the appropriate specifications required (php and sq something or other) , but when I renew I might upgrade and give it a go. Glad the new machine is quieter and that you were able to get it going even with the broken bit. Sounds like that firm are really on the ball. Have a fab day xxxxx
just me surfing around
seeing if you are up and about yet.
oh, last question. How old are the kiddies you teach? I have a few ideas bubbling, but need to know ages before I make a total fool of myself and tell you!
xx
Hi, Nikki, We’ve been out of town for a few days, so I haven’t sat down to do anything online. Your Cambridge day sounds perfect – my; kind of fun, for sure. I could spend the day in a good bookstore, especially if there’s coffee and cheesecake! I ddin’t realize you had a 15 year old kitty. She looks much younger in the photo. Hope the rest of your week is very, very nice. I have Ashley here until Monday, the day I go back to work. Hugs, Julia
Hi again Nikki, wow I guess I was on the wrong page, I just read your previous post & left a comment then found yours on GW! I love the cat photos, she’s a cutie! I love her color. Spring is a great name too. We haven’t had snow but it’s a chilly rainy day here today. Oh I love Roman Holidays, I hope you’ll enjoy it.
I wish you 4 slow days until school, hugs
