So far so good. Returned to Leicester hospital this morning and the registrar doctor we saw was very pleased with the way things are going. He didn’t see a need for more antibiotics and as Dave has to see his consultant on Thursday, the registrar felt that would be sufficient. Of course if anything happens in between time, we have to get straight back there. PHEW PHEW PHEW! You could tell it was a bank holiday…skeleton staff and virtually empty corridors. We arrived 15 mins early, were seen almost straightaway and were leaving by the time 11.00 came which is when our appointment was! So many people like to criticise our NHS but really we probably have one of the best medical systems in the world.
Anyway, reading through the Daily Mail yesterday I came across an article that made me sit up and think ‘about time!’. The government has commissioned a study on the effects of full time nursery care on very young children. Click here to read the results which make fascinating reading. I particularly liked this quote from a teacher at the ATL conference where the study was discussed. She criticised the culture of “wrap around care” when it “should be the parents wrapping their children in their arms”.
Hear Hear!!
I do need to add here that I know there are many mothers who financially have no choice but to go back to work BUT maybe more thought should be given pre-conception on whether it’s the right time to have a baby when a second wage is so vital? I still think that in most circumstances a child needs it’s mother in those first crucial years.
Another photo, this one of the fabulously fragrant freesias my mum brought me on Monday.

I am phew with you on Dave.. that is brilliant and I hope he stays well… specially over the hols.. how neat having so quiet for your appt.. got to love bank or semi bank hols..
I am so with you on mums.. they should be there to nurture their own kids.. not pay for someone else to do it.. I have a sister who had hers 5 years apart so she would only pay for a child minder one at a time!
That quote is so apt and should be given to all new mums..
I love the photo with the flowers.. your having lots of fun with your new camera
Enjoy the rest of your Good Friday
