Thought I’d just take a look back at my entry around this time last year and wasn’t in the least bit surprised to see that we were praying for good weather. Two reasons which are the same every year….Rose Fair and the school trip! Tomorrow is Rose Fair in town where we have a huge parade of floats decorated with a theme (this year, Famous Books). Our float will have fairytales on – Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Snow White. We’ve made what looks like a massive open book to go at the end and then the characters and props (children and staff) will be kind of tumbling out of it. But we need good weather! The forecast is not good
Next Thursday we have our annual school trip and it’s even more important that we have good weather for that. It’s to a farm park and rain = mud, not a pleasant thing when it involves 60 children!!
This week has been as busy it always is at this time of year. Wednesday saw me welcoming my new class for the morning, so that when they start for real in September they have an idea of what to expect. First thoughts on the class are ‘tricky’! Lots of boys who I think will need some winning round. Definitely going to have to take a different approach to the one I’ve taken this year with my little gems. We’ll see!
Have also been busy organising something that will be happening midway through August. We’re renting a beautiful and idyllic cottage in the Highlands and as Dave used to live there and has three sons living there we thought it would be an ideal place to get married without any fuss. So that’s what we’re doing. The ceremony is booked and all we have to do is be there on time and ‘Carrie and Big’ (if you’re not a Sex and the City fan you won’t have a clue what I’m talking about!) style we’ll be grabbing a couple of people off the street to be witnesses. More on this as and when it happens
Meanwhile here’s a photo of where it will take place (an old prison!!).

Hi Nikki, Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials and the cottage in the Highland sounds wonderful. I hope your weather improves as it has here. Have a nice weekend. *hugs*
Woweeee congrats on the coming wedding, what a fabulous place to get married.. I hope the sun shines brightly for you on that day..
Wishing the same for the Rose Fair and the school trip.. although down here its not looking promising!
Those beautiful poppies have taken a bashing this week.. and TY on the scarf
Have a super weekend
Luv n hugs Pixie xxx
OMG! When you said news, I was never expecting this. I am so happy for you both, and I know everything will be wonderful for you on that day and thereafter. You belong together. Much love, Julia
Hello Nikki
what a lovely place to get married! Congratulations to you and Dave….your planned wedding is very much my style too
Had Steve and I been a little older, we would have been married at the end of one of our church services with no fuss but alas, we were young and the parents won out!

I’m in complete agreement with you~ 10 weeks is too long and for someone like C, it is hard to adjust back into the classroom setting after such a break. We do what we can for him during the summer but really, nothing can replicate the classroom itself. No, he’s not at tables yet but it is mostly basic addition and subtraction memorization that he needs to work on. He’s also very poor at doing word problems but that’s partly due to the new maths curriculum they have started using in our province. C does better with really straighforward maths but ask him very wordy or complicated questions and he’s lost. Maths tuition is very worth it so far and she’s been so helpful. (and let’s face it, C and I are at loggerheads within 10 minutes so it is *very* worth it!)
Hope you do have good weather for Rose Fair and the school trip as well.
Fab that you get a sneak peek at your next class as I”m sure it helps you loads to plan for your teaching for next year. I’m sure you’ll work it out for the tricky boys
Off now, I’m off to have a hair cut in a bit (and yes, I have long hair so this means cut off!) My first in a few years so I”m looking forward to it!
Hope you have had a great Saturday so far! Take care xoxo

ok. I tested first and seems my comment went through, so I shall try to leave a longer message now!
Massive congrats to you and Dave. You know already how happy I am for you, and think your wedding plans are superb. If you need any help/suggestions/ideas you just shout, ok! I was fiddling around with some roses last week, and had them in a hand held bouquet shape, and I thought ‘I should get a picture of this and show Nikki’, but I didn’t!
Have you practiced yet? Dead easy.
Not long until you are off for Summer hols!
Honestly! I don’t know why I bother sharing my thoughts and observations on fashion. I had you going on about looking like a mayor, another comment saying they didn’t like my tights. I don’t care! I just wanted to show or talk about things, not gather other peoples likes and dislikes about my choices! Arrrrgggh! I should keep things to myself!
Oh yes, I remember what I said in my lost comment the other day. I was tut tutting at you and the mayoral comments! You don’t wear a gold parochial chain of office over your coat! More like chunky wooden jewellery or beads, to prevent you looking like Lord Mayor!
Now I have that off my chest, I’m off for a shower. Had a bit of a late morning, didn’t get out of bed until 6.50 if you don’t mind! Made up for it since though, cooked scrambled egg for the troops, have cleared up, shoved the chicken in the oven to cook it nice and early am feel worn out. But I’m not even dressed!
Have a lovely day. Looks cloudy already xxxxx
WOW congratulations Nikki & Dave, what a great place to be married! It doesn’t look like an old prison. I hope you’ll have a fantastic weather. I hope the weather was beautiful for the rose fair. It sounds like a wonderful fair & it’s a wonderful theme this year. Hugs
OMG, Nikki !! My warmest & most heartfelt congratulations to you & Dave on your coming wedding !!! You’ve chosen one awesome place !! I’m so happy for you ! I know what you mean about “getting married with no fuss”. That’s what we did with Chris in August 1999, and our parents insisted to have a celebration with family & friends, but as we were constantly moving, that happened almost a year after, in June 2000. I could have done without, though. I hope you’ll have a fabulous celebration !!!!!

Sending you my warmest hugs, my friend !
Btw, thanks sooooo much for stopping by, it’s much appreciated. I know I’ve been such a bad visitor these days … I’m so sorry.
Have a great week, my friend ! OXOXOXO
Wow, such good news! It’s almost 5 years ago that we got married in Edinburgh… also grabbing two people of the street to be our witnesses… We had to convince them that it was real
It’s fun I tell you.
As for the romantic cottage… Scotland is a perfect setting and I hope you will have a wonderful time.
Congratulations and warm hugs to you and Dave!

It’s ok, I haven’t gone mad, I just think it’s better for me to test that my comment will make it before I carry on!
Hello! Have not been here all week almost! Shocking.
Well, Mario. What can I say? The man is a total a**e. I love the stupid stuff that comes out of his piehole, and I have to laugh. For example, last night, when rattling on in the DM about being up for nomination with the annoying Bex, and he comes out with ‘it’s two ‘orse rayce’. Nah! You don’t say! I was chortling away.
I HATE how moody and horrible he’s become lately though. Yes, Belinda has to be one of the most irritating people in the world, but it’s her ‘thing’ to say her name thrice, so why did he have to go on about it in such a nasty way? She should have said to him ‘why do you constantly go on about your work life, is that all that’s important to you?’ because that’s how it seems. He can’t do anything or talk about anything without bringing his work life or health and sodding safety into things! Cracks me up, but it’s also quite sad too.
I think he’s aggreived with Lisa, because she wasn’t nominated and he’s finding it hard to understand why they both aren’t up together. He’s trying to chip at her confidence, which he does quite often by the looks of things. I thought he’d stopped it, but the past few days he has been unbelievable. I half hoped that she’d nominate him after he’d had a go at her in the kitchen, but I suppose that post BB, it would have been a cause for a split. Have a feeling that they may split up anyway, I’m sure she’s seeing him in a different light.
Luke has got to go. He is a nasty little worm. How amazingly two faced is the little weasel? If he and Darnell had met out in the real world, he’d have been scared stiff of him. In the house he’s all bolshy and thinking he’s leader of the Luxury Bedroom!
Mind you, I was crying with laughter when he was watching the Irish dancing and saying ‘what the ‘ell is this?’, utterly hilarious. Even funnier was the Smug Drummers and how they were responsible for failing the task even before the dancing started! ha ha ha! Good. That will teach them for being so annoying.
Even though I don’t like how Mario has been this week, I want him to stay. I am fed up of that Bex and her stupid ways. At least she’s stopped mirroring Jen’s thoughts by going on and on and on about ‘having my own opinions’ and ‘being real’. Oh yawn! Get your own thoughts in your head, girl!
Right. Am in the middle of replying to an email to Tanya, must carry on, or she’ll be going into labour before I write to her!
Have a lovely Friday evening, Keep Mario in!
lots of love xxxxx

here I am, belly swollen from my Mickey D’s lunch, very yummy! That’s our usual deal on a Saturday, Bill gorges on a Full English in the restaurant while I shop, then he toodles off and gets me McD’s for my lunch. The deal works well!
It’s been a morning of missing things. Missed a delivery whilst out (suspect it is the cookie cutters, Bill will see if he can pick it up from the main sorting office in town later), and I’ve missed BB! I always read TV guides too late, so have only just spotted it was on C4 earlier this morning. Typical. I wanted to see Mario’s face. His ‘fan club ‘ has let him down, and he lost his ‘two ‘orse rayce’. I absolutely agree, that it will be interesting to see Lisa now she’s on her own. I think she’ll be fine and will bloom. She’s looked quite miserable at times, especially this week when Mario was being such a total git. I will miss those pearls of wisdom though. I mean ‘Mikeys got a disability… open your eyes’. You can’t make that up!
freezing here this p.m. I have had to put me cashmere on ‘cos I know it will warm me up quickly. How mad is that? Have not posted yet, can’t think of much to say. Looked at my stats yesterday – have not done that much lately at all – and found that The Usual is doing The Usual. Feel quite annoyed about it really, don’t know why that’s happening again.
ok. time to go. I think I’ll go and cook some chicken for tonight, and sit and read. Little one is asleep and Bill is in the den feeling sorry for himself. He’s got a sniffle. I just give him The Look and say ‘try giving birth’. Actually, been a gloomy week at work.He had his meeting the other day, and then yesterday, two people from his office found out that they were losing their jobs. Utterly gloomy.
xxxxx
