We British are known for our love of talking about the weather…..well we’ve had plenty to natter about this week! Snowfall of the like we’ve not seen for …. well I actually don’t remember how long it’s been. No complaints from me as I love the stuff! Especially as it led to only the second ever snow day at our school in 20+years
. That was Thursday. Friday we went back only for blizzard conditions to return and school being closed at lunchtime. Main reason being that many of our staff have a long way to travel. On Monday much of the rest of the country, including London, struggled to cope with the amount of snow. Our part of the world only had a couple of inches…..here’s a photo of what happened to Travis’s paws after he’d had fun in the snow….little snowballs formed between his toes
. Definitely time for a haircut!
It’s been an unusual week all round. I returned to work Monday only to find out that my teaching assistant was off work. No replacement so I was slap, bang back into the thick of it after a week in bed
. Sad to say that some of the children had taken a backward step and I spent much of the week getting them back to listening and behaving
. The other reception teacher and I have come to the conclusion that this is indeed one of the worst year groups we’ve had. Very, very poor listening skills = limited progress and nowhere near such good results as we’ve had for the last few years.
Ah well, you never know, come July I may be wondering what I was worrying about, I sincerely hope so! To cheer myself up this weekend, I bought myself some flowers. I’ve always loved green flowers and coupled with these glorious cerise pink gerberas and roses, I think they make a stunning combination.

Awww at Travis’s paws, Taryl’s jeans had snowballs on them when he came back from taking Sweep out in the fields.
Sure was a lot of snow and they say more on the way! Just seen your comment you have left me and yes we did get a lot more snow, the steps I was stood on taking that photo of Sweep soon got too slippy for me to try and take more.. no where near thank goodness to where all those poor people was stranded.. and Picallo did not want to go out.. perhaps cats have sense lol
Love those flowers and hope the children get the hang of listening to you
)
Have a great week
Keep warm and safe Luv n hugs xxx
Gosh! The little snowballs in the toes must be chilly. It has been quite fun having a snow day hasn’t it? but enough is enough
Pretty flowers adding a touch of spring on a chilly day . Have a good week, hope the kids pull their socks up

Oh, I love to fantasize about your weather. The snow sounds delightful, and that photo of Travis is amazing! I can so relate to your tales of woe with those kids. Some of ours are such victims of learned helplessness. They are waiting for Godot at such a young age. I looked at June again and quite agree. Those flowers are beautiful! Well, here’s to both of us in hopes of a wonderful week. Hugs!
Hi Nikki, Travis has such big snowballs, Beardies have tons of smaller ones when it snows. The best snow is dry & powdery & doesn’t make snowballs. It seems to be even colder for you right now. Sorry your class isn’t a great one, I hope they’ll get better. I hope your week is starting well, hugs
I’m sure you’ll get the tots back on track.
The flowers are gorgeous, I agree, a beautiful combo.
I didn’t see any of the Baftas the other night. I like KW, but I also find her irritating, I don’t know why, so I wasn’t too bothered about it. And I’ve yet to see any of the outfits. I haven’t had time to do a search, even though I know Vogue’s daily newsletter discussed them, I just didn’t have time to click on it and have a look. Been doing other stuff when online or just keeping away from the computer.
Talking of which, must dash. Love the snowy paw pic!

Hello Nikki – hope you’re back in the swing of things again xxx
Good evening, Nikki, what a big snowball
Travis has. I’m not British but I like to talk about the weather a lot, as you may have noticed, LOL!
The flowers you got are fab, I like the colors!
I’ve found a blog a few days ago: Verona Daily Photo. The url is http://www.veronadailyphoto.blogspot.com/ just in case you wanna have a look. Have a good night. Ciao!
Verona is a charming city. I’ve been there only once, but loved it!
just switched on to check email and saw your comment. Nikki,I’m so sorry. Please send Dave my best wishes tomorrow, I hope he is on the mend soon and that they can get to the root of the problem quickly. That poor man, he doesn’t half go through it, and poor you. The worry must be horrendous. I really am sorry.
Take care you, even though I know it’s easier said than done.

How is Dave today? I hope he’s starting to feel better. Will he be home for the weekend? You must be worried sick.
xx
sorry that Dave isn’t home. I hope they can find out what the problem is quicky.
Sounds like it’s a total nightmare where he is.
Sorry too that you are on your own today of all days. Rotten luck.
If it’s any consolation, none of that luvvy duvvy tripe here! I won’t let Bill buy me roses as they are too overpriced and any sappy mush is banned. I was nearly sick this morning when some bloke proposed to his girlfriend on Saturday Kitchen. She went all red and stupid and started shaking!!!! I was bellowing ‘get a grip you idiot!’ I am not the soppy romantic kind at all!
Heart of stone, me!
Give Dave my best.

Hi Nikki, I wish I could share your enthusiasm for the snow, but when you get as much as we do it gets a little tiring, but I guess if we only got it once a year (or every 20 years) I guess we would be pretty excited
. I noticed Sadie’s comment about Dave, is he ill? Hope he is feeling better. *hugs*
Not surprised you and Dave have been sleeping. The recent events must have wiped both of you out. How is Dave? Feeling any better yet? I really hope so.
Masterchef. Oh, it’s a great series this time. I’ve been rooting for young Christopher from early on just because I love his style. And anyone who ‘hasn’t much experience’ but can cook like that just blows me away. I only heard this week that he is a local lad, so of course, I really have to want him to win now!
That said, I like all three. At the start of the week I said to Bill that I wanted the two women to go on Monday, and for the men to get through. I felt that and still do, that it will come down to Andy V Christopher. I like Andy, and there is no doubt he is amazing , but I don’t like his arrogance. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong at all with being proud of yourself for doing something well, and I don’t dislike him, but sometimes when for example, he alters a recipe he’s meant to be following to the letter, it annoys me. I wanted to slap him for doing that. The whole point of that test was to follow the recipe! You can’t then say ‘well, I thought it would be better this way’. No mate. no! I like Mat as well, even though he reminds me of a smiling devil. His prawn do dahs looked gorgeous. Tough call. I still have to go with C though, if for no other reason than he’s a little sweetie and a local geezer!
Glad you go round to reading my post yesterday (I wrote two in the end, as I switched on again at 9.30 last night), but I have just deleted both of the posts I did!!! Meant to get rid of one, but am trying to write for CR at the same time and turned into Sadie Clatter Hands. Never mind. Won’t bother posting for today now, as when I get off here I need to wash the floor and do a few bits around the house.
Have a lovely weekend. xxxxx
