some holiday photos now online

I’ve managed to get our Venice and Bologna pics posted now….click link either at top of page or in sidebar depending on which theme you’re viewing. I’m making a page for each city so to find Bologna, link is at bottom of the Venice page. Florence will come soon. Apart from twiddling around on here, I’ve been having a lovely relaxing week and it’s nice to think that there’s still another two weeks of holiday left.

It occurred to me yesterday that Italian food has been very beneficial to our health. Pasta and bread are something that Dave is allowed to have in abundance and the fact that my health has taken a slight downturn since arriving back has made me question the English diet. A couple of weeks ago I read an article by an English lady who has been living in France for the last ten years. She had been on holiday in England for a few weeks and was writing about her disgust with the kind of food on offer here. Fast food restaurants, shops filled with ready made meals and all kinds of junk food. She also said that a large proportion of the population looks overweight, something that has changed immeasurably since her last visit. So it’s made me look at our diet. Since I’ve been back I’ve been trying to replicate the kind of regime I enjoyed while way such as fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, same for lunch and pasta for our evening meal. It’ll be interesting to see if it helps with my headaches and tummy. I have a friend who has spent a lot of time abroad and he maintains that when he is England his Crohn’s worsens. He puts it down to the additives in foods here. Certainly has got me thinking……

Sorry to hear about your weather, since you have been home.. not been today here, rain over night, dry during the day..

Wow your photos are beautiful.. loved reading all about your trip :)

Good thinking on the change of food, its hard to feed some one with kidney problems and if that type of food works for both of you.. what have you got to lose..
I hope it works.. Have a great weekend

    Hugs Pixie

Hi, Nikki, your site is looking especially lovely today. That is so interesting about the English diet, which is probably similar to ours in terms of fat, additives, etc. There is a diet book published here called The Mediterranean diet; I wonder if they don’t have a point. We certainly need to eat better, too. Who doesn’t love pasta? I can’t wait to see your pictures! Have a wonderful two weeks and enjoy every single second. Hugs, Julia
