spiders, nails and smileys!

Try saying that quickly a few times!
Spiders
, because we suddenly seem to be getting an influx of the biggest, fattest, most horrific ever! The other day there was one in the bath which I swear you could have put a collar on and taken for a walk. Then last night, I was sitting in the living room, minding my own business, watching BB, when I all of a sudden I had the feeling that something was watching me. I slowly turned round to see another MASSIVE blighter sitting beside me on the back of the sofa!! Up I jumped, screaming and of course :) my hero :) came to the rescue and put it outside for me. It’s always either Dave or one of the dogs that ends up saving me. BUT I hate the fact that I have this fear (with wasps too). For the rest of the evening I was constantly looking round imagining there were more and totally ruined BB for me :(

Nails because I said I’d report back on the Opi nailvarnish. Please note: I am NOT an Opi consultant/salesperson! However I do have to mightily extol the virtues of this brand. I’ve had my fingernails painted with the colour I mentioned in a previous post for five days now and not one chip has appeared! This is by far the best nailvarnish that I’ve ever used. Stunning colours, high quality, robust stuff. Here’s a pic of my nails painted in ‘Plugged in Plum’. You will note that my nails are quite short. This is because I have a strong aversion to long nails and false nails!

my short nails!

Smileys because I have at last got my Smiley plugin working properly after many hours of swearing and sweating. They are now completely clickable and I’m going to be wasting even more of my time now replacing or adding to them! I’ve also added a gravatar plugin which allows this blog to choose from a selection, made by me, of gravatars to display if you don’t have one of your own. Hopefully if you do have one assigned to you, it will show up next to your name! Thanks to Pixie for holding my hand last night while I was going through the agonies of it not working!

  1. Whooo look at you doing so good.. your welcome to my help last night and I have to just use a smile :em68: which are adorable BTW..

Omgosh on the spiders.. I had one yesterday morning, doing laps round the bath.. a monster size one.. I had to wake Taryl up to rescue me.. even he said that was a big one!

I hate them with a passion and they seem to seek me out! :em26:

I love your nail varnish what a great colour.. I am a short nail person too.. can’t stand those false ones and if my nails grow too long makes my fingers ache..

Thank you for today.. and your lovely comments

  2. Loving the nails. They do look good. I recall driving home from Dallas with after discovering OPI ten years ago at a nail place – my dearest sister did that for me – admiring them all the eight hours home. Hope you are all so very well. I am wading in bureaucracy but will take my neighbor’s advice and play the game – well. So lucky to have her and the most precious new 26 year old teacher replacing the one I lamented losing. More power to him. Love, Julia
PS I absolutely hate spiders. I guess it’s in the territory of a bonafide phobia. My 14 year old kitty is a great mouser and spiderer. I will so miss her but not yet.

  3. :em38: I’m not a great spidey lover either NIkki. I know exactly what you mean about looking for another one when you’ve already got rid of one of the blighters! Last August I was feeding humbug in bed, the curtains were open but lights off as I was trying to get her to drop off. As I sat there, a movement caught my eye and I realised – with total horror – that it had to be a hairy beastie. I had my hands full (literally!) so couldn’t do anything about it. I am normally the one who has to remove these unwelcome guests as Bill is a big girls blouse, so I had no choice but to call him. He said ‘do you want me to kill it?’ :em41: NO! I said, just scoop it up and put it outside. :em43: So he did just that, but I spent ages looking around nervously. The thing is, the nasty brute had strolled over my legs! Eeww! Had I been asleep and snoring with my piehole open, he could have set up home in my mouth! :em38:

your smilies are such fun! I am loving them!

OH, that Carole (just realised with only a couple of weeks to go that she is Carole with an ‘e’!!!) She really has lost the plot. I am surprised that more people weren’t annoyed with her over the choccy biccies. and as for ‘showing’ K-L how to whisk eggs…really?!! Looked like she was just sticking her nose in and trying to take over, I mean, please, even if you’ve never whisked an egg with a fork in your life, you can pretty much work out how to do it and the speed of which is simply up the the whisk-ee, surely?! She is doing my head in, but it’s entertaining nevertheless. And swearing at Brian – not on. He only wanted his noodles! :em33: I love Brian, he’s such a softie, I hope he wins, he’d be so chuffed. :em50:

I’m going to have to get some of that nail varnish. I tend to use Chanel, but much as I love it, it is a pain for chipping. Mind you, I have to say that I do so much washing up and cleaning, that it would be very hard for any nail varnish to stay put. I have very short nails too. I can’t be bothered to grow them long (though they do grow well, I have to keep chopping them back), because I might scratch humbug when I change her nappy, and I can’t bear false nails, but that’s cos of my mum. She loves her false nails and always, always wears them. I’m forever finding a little pinged off nail either in her bag – if she asks me to get something for her – or on the windowsill in her kitchen and it really turns my stomach. Bleugh!

ok. written a novel today, so time I was off. Have a fabbo day! xxxx :em45:

  4. So I am not the only one watching BB. This is only my second year. The girls got me watching it last year and I started watching again this year, quite regularly at the beginning but I am not enjoying it anymore so only watch it on Friday!
I don’t worry about spiders but you are right we have a lot this year too. Maybe they come in because it is too cold outside! LOL!
Your nails are great! :em34: Gorgeous colour!
    Have a great weekend.

  5. so Gerry has gone. I shall miss him, he reminded me of Franc from Father of the bride! :em50: I really wanted Carole to get booted out. She is so getting on my chimes! I just watched a bit of the live feed on E4, and she was spouting more of her ‘wisdom’ to Jonty. Speaking of Jonty, he needs to get a bit of backbone and stop being so in awe of the housemates. He seems a nice – if a bit dim – bloke.

sent Sonia’s parcel today! :em70: I could keep my big old gob shut no more, and sent her an email. But of course, she’s gadding around in Paris and won’t get it until later or tomorrow now!

right. got to scoot. hope you are having a good day. How is Dave? Recovering nicely I hope.

  6. Hi Nikki – We have OPI nail polish here in the U.S.A. It’s one of the pricey ones, but it does stay on the best. :em50:

Hope you and Dave are doing well.

  7. Hi! I had to laugh at your post about the spiders. That is one thing I cannot take. :em61: I will run when I see one. I’m not afraid of bees, but put a spider or snake near me and I’m outta there!!!! That is funny the names of the glasses. They just put the word noline in front of the name bifocals! It is a chilly 60 degrees here today. According to my thermometor that is a chilly 15C for you! Do you live near the beach where you are? How close are you to Sadie? I have seen on a map where she is. I think Jackie lives on the other side of the country. you have a great day. Hugs

  8. Hi Nikki I’ve had a devil of a job getting in here today but finally I’m bursting through :em58: Well done on getting your sofa covers washed. We’ve got a cream sofa too, I don’t know what we were thinking, I’ve never tried to wash the base covers just vaxed the worst bits :em56: Yes there do seem to be more spiders about at the moment, I’m not too bad with them but it does depend on size, and leg length. Your nails look fab, five days without a chip is pretty good going. You certainly seem to be pretty au fait with WordPress and install some really good plugins, I don’t think everyone uses it to it’s full potential. I am still dickering about upgrading my hosting and giving it a try, if I do you will be my first port of call for help :em66: Hope your weekend is wonderful xxxx
