successful upgrade…

….phew! I’ve been dragging my feet over upgrading my wordpress to the latest version after hearing horror stories on how it can break everything or stop plugins working. So I asked my trusty webmaster to do it for me knowing it was beyond my capabilities. I’d hoped he would do it yesterday while I was out but silly me forgot to send him the passwords etc. Anyway, he finally did it while I was sleeping in this morning and with just a couple of minor blips it’s fine. Big thanks to my hero :) Now that I have the new version I’ve been able to include a wonderful plug-in which I’m sure many people will appreciate. I saw it first at my friend Julia’s site Only My Dreams. What it does is enable you, the poster, to edit your message after you’ve posted it! So if like me you make typos, you can go back and change it and no one will be any the wiser!

Well I have 18 reports under my belt now so am really pleased with myself as it’s not unknown, in the past, for me to return to work after half term not having done any! Yesterday I had a day off to go to Nottingham, a very exciting city with lots of places to go and see. We only shopped :) and lunched :) and had coffee and cake later :) Most enjoyable! I bought lots of little things, nothing major. The weather has been glorious the last two days just in time for me to go back to work. Seven more weeks and then it’s the summer holidays..I’ve added a countdown to my sidebar :)

  1. afternoon Nikki.
It’s been a bit of a quandry over the funeral, but I have to think of humbug, and with her naps and feeds, its just not practical to go to the funeral. or cremation, as it will be. :( Bill is fine about me not going, as he doesn’t want humbug to go. We will remember FIL in nicer ways. For example, at our wedding. When he had had his starter of tomato and basil soup -more than enough for him, he’s never had much of an appetite – he skulked off for a crafty fag and to chat up two fillies! It was hilarious. It’s that kind of thing that I will never forget about it, absolutely shocking but very endearing behaviour.
    :)

well done on the reports, that’s good going. I can imagine how you have to be in the right frame of mind to get it done.

ok. got to go. girl causing trouble! xxxxx

  2. I love this version of WP, what I love is to be able to validate a post before publishing..
That editing plugin, looks great.. have bookmarked it have give it a whirl.. I have been bad not posting.. been busy clicking my needles.. knitting socks! well test running the different ways of doing them and learning new things with each one.. and its been good for tiding things up in the garden, with all that rain some plants have over taken things.

I am so pleased your ahead with your reports and you got to spend some time out for something more enjoyable :)

    Have a great evening
    Hugs Pixie

  3. Wow! Congrats on the upgrade and thanks for the plug! I see you’ve done something new with weather, too. Is this a new icon or an adaptation of WeatherIcon? I am loving the new theme I borrowed from you. I finally got my Netflix to display inline by adding a bit to the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for that. It was so obvious but took me some time to figure out. Isn’t that always the case? Well, I hope you have all or almost all those reports finished. The day trip to Nottingham sounds delightful – cake and all. We’re going to Lafayette tomorrow for Roy’s appointments but will manage to squeeze in some fun somehow, I hope. Have a good week to be! Hugs, Julia

  5. Sorry you had a frustrating day, but no wonder with all the paperwork stress. You get the British series way in advance of us, so I’m glad to hear they’re making more Midsomer. I love those in every way. I’m about to watching a Jericho on what we call Mystery over here. They’re all your reruns I fear! Funny, I didn’t have trouble with my WeatherIcon and WP 2.2. I’ll have to see what version I have. Okay, it’s 2.99.122 if that helps. I need to restyle it because of the bullets, though. Hugs, Julia

  6. Hi Nikki Well I definitely like the idea of your new plug-in as my fat little fingers are always making typos and it annoys the heck out of me when I spot them. Glad you had a nice time in Nottingham – we keep hearing that it’s the gun capital of England, good to hear a positive spin on the city. The nearest I’ve been to it is when we went to centre parcs at Elevenden Forest and went for a mooch round Sherwood Forest. Well done on getting so many reports done already – it must be quite an undertaking. Right I am going to make a deliberate typo for tosting purposes. Hurrah! It works but I’m not going to change my mistake – what a rebel I am

  7. Hello Nikki, your weekend sounds lovely. Nottingham sounds fun & exotic from here. Congratulations on the 18 reports! It’s a lot of work. I am stuck in Country Patch Collection theme as it doesn’t have themes listed. It’s pretty so it’s OK I guess. Let me know if there’s a way to get out of it :)
    Have a great week, hugs

  8. Hi, Nikki. I have a question for you. How can I get the ugly bullet off the icon in weather icon? I remember they talked about it on the WP Learning buddies group at one point, but I’m clueless. Does that group still exist BTW? Hope your day was nice. Ours was pretty good but wet. Hugs, Julia
