After one of the most miserable Augusts on record, summer has made a big comeback here over the last few days. It’s positively hot and definitely sunbathing weather! Autumn is still another 11 days away but the trees are starting to change colour already. Dave and I are still endeavouring to stick to a healthier Italian style diet. I watched a tv programme the other night where two families swapped food lifestyles for a few weeks.
One family who normally lived on home cooked food only changed to readymade meals only…and vice versa. The end results proved to be very, very interesting although not at all surprising. The healthier family gained weight, fat cells and their cholesterol went worryingly high. The family who had previously lived on shop bought readymade meals (because the mother couldn’t cook) improved their health dramatically. The health expert delivering the programme went through the boxes of readymade meals and read out the fat content on them. Many contained all or more of the fat required for a whole day…in one meal! Interestingly we didn’t see one readymade meal in the Italian supermarkets! Over here, though, they are everywhere and it’s just so easy to pick one up. On average we have one a week but maybe we should be thinking of eliminating that one too.
Dave goes back to work tomorrow after having a few days off with lower back pain. His immediate reaction on getting this pain was – kidneys! A perfectly normal reaction in my opinion. Luckily we have an appointment with his consultant on Wednesday and it can be mentioned then.
Oh and before I stop writing, do take a look at my other new theme: Ollie. I used a lovely template from Nickel and Dime (see link in footer) plus graphics from Ollie at CountryPatchCollection’s new, long awaited webset. I’m really pleased with it especially the colours.

Hi, Nikki. That is so interesting about the trading families. Excellent data, actually. I checked some lowfat biscuits Roy bought for his breakfast and discovered high sodium, high fat, and even transfats. I guess they were only “low” in comparison to their regular biscuits. The graphics are so beautiful. I am so ready for cooler weather!
Meant to wish you and Dave the best of health this week!
I saw that programme too Nikki, it was interesting. I hate most ready meals, I went through a phase of having lots of them and after a while they all tasted the same plus they were so salty! When there was that food dye scare last year I got worried because it was found in some of the ready meals, although not ones I had bought, well I decided to not eat them any more and I still don’t. The only sort of ready meal Ihave sometimes is by Youngs and it’s their Ocean or Admirals Pie. Those are quite nice but I dnot eat any others. The Mediteranean Diet is supposed to be very good for you, lots of Olive Oil.
Hope you have a good week! Hugs
Your themes are great!
I love this golden country best, even though it’s far from autumn here.
The sun came back here too, and it’s almost tropical.
Unbelievable!
But the laundry won’t dry.. it’s far too humid.. Ugh!!
Big hugggsss

Hello Nikki, how are you doing? It’s funny we use the same collection but the colors are very different on my site. I didn’t use Olli backgrounds though
I hope you keep enjoying the nice sunshine. Have a great weekend, hugs
