….. for all your kind emails and messages regarding the funeral yesterday. The day went perfectly including the weather. Nothing worse than having miserable weather for a sad occasion and happily the sun came out until late afternoon. The church service was beautiful and very moving. The lady vicar was lovely and her touching eulogy for Dave’s mum was so caringly delivered. Afterwards we had a long trek to the crematorium. One funny and light moment of the day was when another hearse overtook us on the journey….. turned out they were due at the crematorium before us and were late! There were we, in a limousine behind our hearse, travelling at a very slow and sedate pace while the overtaking hearse and limousines were virtually driving at breakneck speed!
Then we went back to Dave’s sister’s house, along with many friends and family. A lovely opportunity for Dave to see family he hadn’t seen for years. Dave’s daughter, her husband and their baby stayed with us from Thursday until a couple of hours ago. We just love having a baby in the house and she is just so content. During both services yesterday she didn’t make a sound!
Yesterday I was very snap happy taking photos of the flowers, particularly the stunning orchids, and some from Dave’s sister’s garden. I also managed to snap a cheeky frog in the pond!

I am glad it all went well yesterday Nikki, was thinking of you all and hoping you didn’t get caught in a downpour, never though of a over taking hearse!
Robyn sounds the ideal baby to have around, would love to see photos if I may
Your flower photos are gorgeous and I love the shot of the frog..
Thank you on your comment you left on my blog, I love those flowers and weather permitting going to two garden centers tomorrow with my parents, so will see what else I can buy.
Yep that is blackberry stitch, you spotted well, been a while since I have done that..
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Hugs Pixie
What a blessing that your day went so smoothly. You even had a smile with that other hearse coming after you for no apparent reason. That’s a good one! I’d love to see the baby photos, of course. The flowers are lovely, but my favorite is the froggy. Relax and unwind. The Philadelphia Story is a favorite of mine – both versions. I don’t believe you said which one you watched. Love and hugs, Julia
I’m glad everything went well. Including the weather. What was it my Grandad used to say? something like the sun always shone for the good. something like that. He had brilliant sunshine for his funeral.
thank you so much for emailing the photos. The little one is beautiful.
gosh, it feels like a hundred years ago that my humbug was that small and yet she’s not even a year … yet! Only a few weeks until she hits the Big One! My little darling.
well, you have a good weekend . hope you can take it easy

Hello Nikki
Love the photos – what a cheeky frog. Have a relaxing Sunday xxxx
You’re right the weather does make all the difference at a funeral. I’m glad it went so well and that the lady vicar delivered such a touching address. Glad also that you had a moment of humour amongst all the solemnity. Dave’s Granddaughter sounds such a cutie – I’m sure she was the focus of much attention and interest
you are so right, I am loving the weather ! As I type this it is POURING! Bill took humbug out for me so I could hoover the house (she has decided she hates the hoover, so screams while I do it and make me feel like Bad Mum of The Year!) we bundled her up and he took her for a lovely walk. She enjoyed it and is now tucking in to her tea of homemade cheesy veg and chicken pie with mashed spud topping. A very cosy afternoon
ebay. Hmm. Well, I decided to give it another go, but no more of this ‘bidding’ rubbish. I did the ‘buy now’ option and bought a square of fabric for under two quid. That’s more like it! I love having fabric around the house for little projects like cards or making into cushions, so my latest mission is to buy as much fabric as I can. I can only spend what I have in PP , which is why I can’t get into bidding wars.
so while I’m not a fan of ebay, it’s getting better. I bet if I was still working and had my own money in my bank account, I’d buy a whole lot more!
enjoy your sunday p.m. ooh, did you watch ‘Rebecca’ yesterday? I was watching it until almost the end, when the second Mrs De Winter annoyed me so much by being such a drippy, gutless twerp that I had to switch over. Tell me, did Mr DW get done for the murder of Rebecca? I’d love to know!
