the nearer it gets…..

…the less I like the idea: going back to work that is! This afternoon I went into school for about three hours to begin to get the classroom ready for the new littlies who start next Wednesday. Even though I do a huge amount of clearing up at the end of term plus lots of prep through the holidays, there’s still a lot of work to do before the children arrive. At the moment the room is bare with a massive space for where a new interactive whiteboard (IWB) is going to be. Today I just rearranged the room to accommodate this as the IWB will now be my main focal point. Whereas when I was at school all children sat in desks facing a blackboard, nowadays children sit at tables (or on the floor as they do in Reception) facing an IWB. On a blackboard, there was only so much that could be done with a piece of chalk but with an IWB the possibilities are endless. Anything I put on my laptop will be projected onto the IWB and, with a special pen, things can be moved around, drawn and written. This is all very new to our school as we’ve been waiting for an IWB which was suitable for an infant classroom and at last there is one, so all the classrooms will be getting one. As  ICT manager, I’m going to be even busier this term as all the teachers start using them.

Enough of school, there’ll be plenty of that this time next week! I finished my little rabbit last night but am not happy with it for a number of reasons, biggest one being that I used too large needles. I’m going to have another go now that I know a bit more. Nevertheless I will show a photo of him as he is a bunny in his own right :)

I’ve managed to talk Dave into going somewhere nice on Friday, being the last day of our hols. We’ve decided to go to Cambridge as we can get there by train and we both love trains! I’ve also booked up our Dorset holiday at last. We normally stay in a caravan which is right by a lovely quiet beach but we found out the other day that they’re closing early this year so it wouldn’t be available for when we wanted it. So instead we’ve got a little cottage just a few yards from where Dave’s daughter lives….perfect! Much as I love the caravan for it’s peacefulness and seclusion, it’s not such fun in the Autumn when it might be wet and then the dogs get muddy. We’re not decided yet on whether to take the little monkeys as to be perfectly honest it would be a lot easier not to, but from experience I know how much we miss them when we don’t ….everyone in Dorset seems to own spaniels which makes it even worse! We can take them if we want to, so we have to make our minds up in the next few weeks. I must say it’s lovely to have something to look forward to. We just can’t wait to see Dave’s two grandchildren! His grandson starts school next week so he’s the age that I teach now :)

Bill and I always stay in cottages when we go away, so we can take Dudley. Haven’t quite had the courage to go anywhere with Humbug too, as the amount of stuff I’d need to pack is outrageous. Bill would be all relaxed as he’d only sort stuff out for himself, I’d be a frazzled wreck! Maybe next year.

I love those sites you left links of! Oh My God! I wish I could churn out fairy cakes like that (I’ve been told off by D for saying ‘cupcakes’ when she knows we called them fairy cakes, so I have reverted to the British speak!)

the background is by Michelle, the link is on the bottom of the page. It’s linkware. Visit while you can, she used to be of Primsical Cuties and Michelles Lil Cuties. I agree, it’s beautiful isn’t it? I had to use it, it’s just so PINK!! :em70:

I must go. humbug is getting grumpy, time to take her downstairs, she’s just had an hour causing trouble up here with me, she loves it, just crawls around pulling everything out and leaving it, rolling on pillows and just having a laugh!

will email at some point, later this week.

Hi Nikki! I survived the 1st day! My mind still doesn’t understand the fact that I’m back! My body is there, but for now that is it! I love hearing how you call the bottles of polish pots! It is beautiful here today. Now what age is your class? I work with mostly 9-10 year olds. I love that age. you have a great evening. Hugs

Hello, Nikki of a thousand questions! :em59:

yes, I do get Grazia. Just been reading it this afternoon (was chuffed to bits to see they had my Next shoes in there! hee hee!) Not totally sure about grey nail varnish. I love Rouge Noir and I love my Black Satin (both Chanel), so if Chanel did a grey one, I have no doubt I’d buy it ‘just because’, but do I like it? not sure.

Am not going to be wearing ‘treggings’ Nevvvvverr gonna happen!

I would like the BB roundup to be thus:

Carole (getting so on my chimes now it’s not true!), Jonty, Zigster (like him better minus Chanelle, but he is so insipid and what is is about the thing with having to be nice all the time. It’s so fake), Liam, twinnies, Bri. I want Brian to win, because he’d just go totally mental, and would be hilarious! I’m still not convinced with his ‘dimwit’ act though, he is more intelligent than he lets on.

I do watch Supernanny normally, I know it’s a new series, but I watched The Restuarant on BBC2 instead!

ok. must scoot. Just got my washing in, it is all grey and looks like rain! (weather, not washing! that’s mostly pink!!!)
