the rain has come…

by Siobhan

… monsoon like in it’s ferocity! But a welcome change from the heat and the humidity we’ve endured over the last couple of weeks. Sleep should come easier tonight and there’s a lovely cooling breeze coming in here as I type. I’ve spent the last hour or so planning routes for our holiday. How to get from Venice airport to the hotel (waterbus sounds easiest), how to get from the hotel to the railway station etc etc.

Yesterday I went with Dave for his renal checkup. We were shocked to find out that he hadn’t been put on the transplant list! It seemed he’d been forgotten and it should have been done 6 months ago! We’re not happy for a number of reasons but I’ll spare you the detail. Kidney function down to 11% ……. dialysis gets ever closer. Potassium level still not brilliant but it’s been worse. Phosphate level not good….reduce even more on the cheese, fish and other dairy products. Bless him, it’s all come as a big shock to him as it’s like dieting, something he’s never had to do in his life before!
