the weather…

Current Mood:blogging emoticon blogging & bathtime emoticon bathtime

…continues to be the favourite topic of conversation around here. Today has been absolutely glorious so I was able to take my schoolwork outside and sit in the sun finishing things off. From time to time I couldn’t resist lying on the lounger in an attempt to get some colour on my legs. It’s also been a time for sorting through my wardrobe and deciding what will be schoolwear for the coming summer months. I definitely need a few more dresses and the shops are full of perfect length shifts/smocks etc. Yesterday I bought another dress from Debenhams, a John Rocha this time, only to find that I didn’t like it when I got it home (I like v necks but this is a v almost to my navel!). Not only that, after buying it, I went in a few cheaper shops and saw almost identical ones for half the money! So it’ll be returned in perfect condition next chance I get, which will probably be next weekend.
Of course we’re always tempting fate when we decide to pack away all our winter clothes, so I’m fully expecting the weather to change within a week or so!

Dave has spent the day running lopped off branches through a wood shredder……a favourite activity of his. I’ve had to keep a close eye on him though as he’s not able to do nearly as much as he was able to do this time last year (try telling him that though!). The dogs have loved being out there with him although Travis insists on trying to help him sort out all the branches!

The papers are full of the break up between Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton. We heard the news first on BBC Radio 4 as we were driving home yesterday. It was the first item of news and was announced as ‘Prince William and his girlfriend have split up’, I was quite taken aback by the wording of the statement. I’m not sure if this was Buckingham Palace’s release or Radio 4’s take on it, but either way surely there’s a better way of putting it?! But then I got thinking that actually there isn’t a polite, tasteful way of saying it really. ‘Separated’ can, presumably, only be used for married couples, ‘broken up’ is probably as inelegant as ’split up’! Parted company maybe? Hmmm, food for thought :) . The Mail on Sunday reports that Kate was just too ‘middle class’, poor girl! Signing off now with my precious new siggie from my friend Sadie. Cool!

  1. I think the split probably had more to do with her pushy mum. They’ve touched on it before about how she was a social climber and only too delighted that her daugther had got involved with Wills. I also think that Wills is probably a bit of a shite for want of a better word. He’s been without his mum for so long, that he is being turned more and more into a clone of his dad. I’m sure Charles is nice, and I really don’t hold anything against Camilla, but the way William dresses and seems to be is just too old for his age. He’s only 24, I thought he must be in his thirties, which is stupid, because I knew I was at least 11 years older than him! Why do they try to turn their children into such fuddy duddy’s?
The papers wouldn’t have helped either, they’ve been going on and on and on about them getting married for months now! Ha! How wrong are they?

I am totally in agreement with you RE v necks. What is it with shops nowadays, they all make the v cut done to your knees! The dress from Next turned up yesterday, and much as I love it, I am sending it back. The v is so low! It’s almost obscene. The cut under the arms is odd and sticks out and the waist band seems to high and makes me look like I’ve got a bit of an odd shaped, short bodied or something. Either way, it is not right and I am gutted. It was going to be my brilliant buy for summer, and I’d worked out how to dress itup and down :( I’m looking at it now, hanging up on the wardrobe door, and I can’t tell you how sad I am that it doesn’t suit me. Or I don’t suit it!

I shall have to look in Peacocks. Yes, we have one in town and I love it. Last year I got a bag that was similar to the Fendi Spy. I also got my superbly tacky bright pink Barbie shoes from there at Christmas, did you ever get to see them? I’ll have to send you the photo if not, they’re excellent! I often wear them to do the weekly shop in!

I’m going to miss you not posting each day, but I can just imagine how busy you are when school is in.

Enjoy what’s left of the day and weather. My weather pixie is standing in rain, but she’s a liar of the highest order most of the time, I will take her with a pinch of salt! Though metcheck.com say we are in for rain tomorrow afternoon. Hurrah! don’t mind that at all.

well, I’ve rattled on far too long again, so I must bid you good day! xxxxx

  2. p.s , meant to say that we have dunelm mill and The range here, so I get most of my craft stuff form The range, but also a small shop in town. dunelm is where I buy my fabric (bought some fab fabric for the curtains).

Didn’t get red card in the end, as it was too orangey red and I thought it would give me headache! So I got bronze instead. It looks quite good. Still have a lot to do, but I’m making progress. Will show piccie tomorrow! xx

  3. Hi Nikki There was so much about it in the paper today (PW and KM I mean) – I couldn’t face reading it all :) I feel sorry for Kate though she is going to have to face a lot of attention (more than usual) in the coming days. Yes I must find some skirts and dresses for the summer too – I seem to live in trousers but when it’s like this it’s much too hot for them. The cheap shops seem to have stuff just as good as the more expensive brands. And for things like teeshirts I’d rather buy cheap and have one in every colour :) Sorry you won’t be posting as much during term time – Have a nice time back at work xxxx

  4. Its been a gorgeous day here and I hope it lasts a long time!

Sweep and me have spent time out side.. not worked as hard as Dave though.. just pulled a few weeds up and trimmed something..

Sad on how the news reported the break up of William’s and Kate’s relationship.. no easy way of saying it I suppose..

Have to let you know that Taryl did order a T Shirt from the PG tips website.. he wanted one for his girlfriend but the lady ones are out of stock at the momemnt.. what is good is all of the net proceeds of sales made on their website will go direct to Comic Relief.. makes it all the more worth while buying in my mind..

    Hugs Pixie
