time for a little rant!

Today we called at the doctor’s to get the blood test results Dave’s home care team needed in Leicester. Turned out there was a touch of urgency with this as when he took a shower this morning he realised his tube had come loose and was therefore vulnerable to infection. Normally this would mean an immediate trip to Leicester to have the tube changed. The blood tests would have revealed whether any infection was present. So he politely requested the results only to be met with the answer ‘Oh, we can’t give you them as doctor hasn’t seem them yet.’ Never mind that doctor didn’t request them in the first place and that Dave rarely sees him anyway as all his care is done through the Peterborough and Leicester hospitals!! Even when Dave said it was urgent and that he may need to make a trip to Leicester, the old bag/jobsworth still wouldn’t shift! Dave was livid, as was I. Anyway, he spoke to his nurse when we got home and she said that he should be ok as he’s not dialysing so it would be very unlikely for any bacteria to get into his peritoneum. He now has an appointment on Thursday to have his tube changed just to be sure. At 5.30pm he finally received a phone call from his GP telling us all the details of his blood test…….the original intention for these was to compare them with his last lot of tests to make sure nothing is amiss now he’s off dialysis. As the GP has no record of these as they’re done at the hospitals it was totally pointless him looking at them! His care team put all his results on a special renal website so that we can monitor everything ourselves….the GP doesn’t even have access to that site! Anyway, he was very apologetic and has passed on our complaint to the practice director so that it never happens again.

OK, rant over! Now that I’m off work and have lots of spare time, I’m able to dally with the lighter but nevertheless very important things in life like……fashion, make-up etc. Something that’s been on my mind is what colour nail varnish to wear through the summer after my black through winter and part of spring. At the moment I’m wearing a very pretty bubblegum pink on my toes (I rarely wear it on my fingernails as it’s too high maintenance). I’ve been reading a lot about OPI nailvarnish. I guess I’ve tried most makes there are and it seems to me that the most expensive are not necessarily the best and longest lasting. L’Oreal has always stayed on me the longest so I’ve tended to stay with that make over the last few years. Anyway, as there are no OPI stockists close by I looked on eBay and found hundreds. What I love about this make is the massive range of colours and also the names. I was so spoilt for choice! I was looking for a pinky purple and found ‘Plugged in Plum.’ It arrived today and is gorgeous.

I will report back on how well it lasts :)

Had a glorious couple of hours being pampered having my hair cut and coloured. I’ve gone for a lighter copper colour all over this time with a few gold and red highlights. Looks great!

Oh and one more thing, I’ve changed the default theme on here to ‘dot dot dot’. If you’re a regular visitor you may need to change themes. I love this one, especially the colour. It also has a new piece of music…..a wonderful French group called ‘Air’.

poor Dave! Those jobsworth types really give the NHS a bad name. :|

I had to laugh at your retort RE RM,and all I can say is Touché! I see your point!

hmm. you’ve given me lots to think about with your moodgirl suggestions. If I don’t include the cinema one with the new set, I think I could possibly draw one for the regular mood girls. Either way, I’ll see what I can do 8)
I was all geared up to do some drawing tonight, but there is an hour of cooking on C4 followed by Big Brother (which needs to change it’s name to Big Yawn, the whole halfway house thing was a boring disaster. I missed last nights, but caught some of it on E4 this afternoon, it seemed to be some drivel about time travelling – !! – followed by Carol getting in strop because other people had the nerve to cook *shock*! Hope Kara-Louise goes this week, she annoys me)

    nighty night! xxxxx

Omgosh that is awful with Dave some people! I hope all goes well with his next appt.

Oooo now that colour I do love in the nail varnish.. I don’t do my nails as I can’t hold the brush well enough to make a good job and I miss wearing it..

I love this theme and the music, its a real treat popping in here to see you :D

TY on your comments and one of my socks done.. these so far have been the quickest, mainly as you not on a strict colour way to match the starting point..

I am loving going to bed and reading HP.. not saying that to rub it in.. just saying lol

    Keep well both of you

    hello!
well, I think that ‘cake flour’ is made up of plain flour sifted a squillion times and something like cornflour is added to it too. I need to do a bit more research and make sure I’m right, then I can work out the ration of pf to cf.

I laughed out loud when I saw the truffles last night. Not ‘cos they didn’t look nice, but because how many were in that jar?!!! Had they scoffed them all before putting them in the fridge do you think?
I liked some of Jamies recipes, but I got a bit bored by the end of it. He just annoys me to be honest. Last year Bill had a call from his ‘people’ saying could Bill keep a certain afternoon free as the Great Jamie ‘might’ call him! It was when he was looking for a pub to buy for his other programme. Needless to say, Bill didn’t keep an entire afternoon free (because quite honestly, he is busy himself and has lots of other people calling all the time) and – needless to say – The Great Man didn’t call anyway! Talk about thinking highly of yourself!!!!

I’m with you on cooking yourself, I am the same, I love to cook but by the end of it would rather have a sandwich than eat what I’ve cooked. I think it’s the effort of making it that kills the appetite.

ok, I’m off. Have a great Wednesday. Oh, only watched half of BB last night because I was tired, but ha ha ha to K-L and A being up for eviction. that Amy really thinks she’s popular!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s like a less vain and less argumentative Charley – totally deluded! ;) xxxxx

Yes, that is an amazing story of bungled medical care. I hope and pray everything goes well, but I know you are on pins and needles in the meantime. It was so sweet of you to watch the video. They have all suffered through the loss of Derek and more recently BIL Bob’s cancer. Ian looked so shy; I was really surprised as I have never seen him act that way. He is precious though and very well-behaved. His Brazilian mother is very strict with him – in a good way. Take care and try to enjoy your time off. Hugs, Julia

PS Love the nail polish. That is my favorite brand as well!

It’s the same here, with medical information.
Our doc is on vacation, so that means we have to waith three weeks for results.

The boy might have an infectuous disease.
    They don’t care.

When the assistant tells me the doc should see the results first, I tell her I’ll mail the doc, and within 5 minutes I get the results by mail. LOL!

You sound so bright about nailpilish. Oh and your hair done!! Congrats!
That makes such a different feel.

I hope all will be OK with Dave.

    Hugggss
