Flicking through one of the Sunday mags yesterday, I chanced upon an article all about a website called Toptipsforgirls. Great site! Loads and loads of excellent tips, kind of along the lines of tips your grandmother passed down (well perhaps not all of them!). You can also ask for tips and even add your own. Here’s a few that struck me as excellent ideas:
How to clean silver : line the bottom of a bowl/sink with tinfoil. Fill with very hot water and add baking soda. Put in your silver bits and ….. hey presto, the tarnish will come off and stick to the foil all by itself. Only takes a couple of minutes!
How to make flowers stand upright in a vase: put some clingfilm over the top of the vase and poke the flowers through.
How to stretch shoes: blow them with a hairdryer for about 30 seconds until they are very warm, put them on, and they should stretch and mould to your feet.
How to stop tantrums: next time your child has a paddy while out shopping etc, stop and say to people around you “Everyone, let’s watch Tom/Lucy having a tantrum”. I know that one works but they have to be the right age to be embarrassed by it
!
You’re so welcome for the letter ! That was my pleasure !
Ahahahaha I had to laugh out loud at the last tip ! Have definitely to try it soon ! (maybe no longer than tomorrow !)
Have a great evening, sweetie, I’m off to bed, after a looong day with the boys.
OXOXOXO
Great tips and love the site, what a neat idea.. will be spending more time there.. Love the last one you posted.. mine are sort of past that stage.. lol

I shall make a note of the last tip! I’ve tried the clingfilm one, it works brilliantly with delicate flowers like anenomes, but if you try with heavier flowers they just rip the cling film. Scrunched up chicken wire I’ve tried before. That works ‘ok’ and another last resort is sellotape. Tape in a grid over the opening of the vase and poke flowers through the holes!
Don’t use those idea often though, ok, I never use them, but I have tried them!!

I’ll have to visit that site and see what other handy tips they come up with.
ooh, roast beef, how yummy.
must skidaddle. Humbug is downstairs on her own, which usually means trouble!
