But it’s been a good one. The children were worrying me a little before we broke up because it seemed that some of them hadn’t progressed as far as I’d have liked. But I think they were just tired because, having had a week off, they’ve come back refreshed and I can see an improvement in all of them. The new phonics scheme we’re piloting this year is working and these children who initially were quite poor, on the whole, are coming on in leaps and bounds in both their writing and their reading. It’s wonderful to behold and it’s at times like this that I realise what a privilege it is to be a teacher!
Not such a good week for poor Dave who last weekend developed a hernia which is being exacerbated by the dialysis. His hospital doesn’t seem unduly concerned and he is still waiting to find out what they’re going to do about it. He’s in a lot of pain and isn’t able to walk far but is still managing to work provided he takes it as easy as possible.
Today I was lucky enough to adopt two more of Siobhan’s fab new characters……a really quite retro look which I love! It never ceases to amaze me how many new faces she comes up with using only a small amount of pixels. If you’ve ever tried to draw using a paint programme you’ll know just what I’m talking about! Both of these graphics can be adopted at my shop, link in sidebar.

if you look on your stats you’ll see I’ve been here for over an hour! I toodled off and made lasagne while I had a sneaky glass of wine (well, it is Saturday!) and got sidetracked!
How old are the kids you teach? sounds like they are quite young.
Yes, I am a heels girl. Love them. Bill bought me a pair of Jimmy Choos for my wedding present and they are cherished. We went to London the week before the wedding to go to Manolo Blahnik. We tracked it down, and were let in (very fancy, you have to ring the door to get in), but sadly I didn’t like any. I still stay I must have a tee shirt printed up saying ‘I went to Blahnik and sneered!’ Anyway, we went to Selfridges and found the Choo section.
I tell Humbug that they are hers in years to come. She is going to be so lucky as she grows up, with all the feather boas, tiaras and crowns and handbags and shoes I have.
I do wear flats when I go out walking with The Girl, or I’d just kill my back, but when I’m home I usually slink around in heels, and I do the weekly shop in heels too, as Bill drives us. I can’t believe that when I was working in town, I used to walk to work and home again in heels, it was half an hour each way from my parents house! Nutter!
glad you enjoyed my Oscars outfit. I normally go for Oscar de la Renta and Asprey jems.
have a lovely day. Send Dave my kind regards when you see him. I hope he’s well enough to come home soon.
lots of love xxxxx
