working Sunday

Lots of work to do today for the week ahead. Tomorrow we take delivery of some chicken eggs and an incubator so that the children can observe them hatching in a few days time. I haven’t done this for a number of years so am looking forward to seeing the children’s reactions to the awesome sight of eggs cracking and little beaks breaking through!
So, much of the planning today has been related to the topic of life cycles and stories about hens :)
Yesterday we found time to watch a wonderful, classic old film and then later that evening a much more recent, equally wonderful, but tragic film. The classic was The Philadelphia Story with Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart. True class! The newer one was United 93. When it first came out I was unsure if I wanted to see it due to the harrowing subject of the final minutes of the incredibly brave passengers and crew of the one plane which was thwarted in it’s target on 9/11. The film is a fitting and superb tribute to all those who lost their lives on that shocking day, with many of the air control staff playing themselves.

One photo to share today……our crazy little minx Charley in a pose which is quite common around here. Both our dogs usually have something stuck in their mouths…this ball is just a bit too big for comfort although it never seems to bother her!

Oh what a cute photo! I love it. I love The Philadelphia Story, I’m crazy about classics movies. I haven’t seen the second one & I’m not sure I want to see it :) I hope you have a fantastic week with the hatching baby chicken. Hugs

Oh, this is the cutest doggy photo! What fun! I haven’t watched that United 93 movie for the same reason you stated. Maybe someday. I’ve heard it was well worth it. Your children are going to love the chickens thing. That is such a wonderful idea. It makes me want to teach elementary, and believe me, that urge does not occur very often! Have a good Monday, Nikki, and Happy Mother’s Day in spite of it not being your Mother’s Day! Hugs, Julia

    Hi Nikki
sorry I haven’t stopped in a little while. :( I hope it didn’t upset you. We weren’t home from Friday evening till this morning, then it was shopping for food, tidying up, laundry, and as it rained heavily all morning till 01.30 pm, I couldn’t bring Paul to school. Then we were again out till 09.10 pm. And if I could draw a bit, it’s precisely because I wasn’t home !
I know you’re having busy days too, and I’m glad that the funerals happened without trouble. That must be so hard for Dave & his family, I don’t even want to imagine how it’ll have to be when it’ll be time for my parents or inlaws to leave. :(
I promise to leave a comment more often, I’ll do my best, sweetie.
Now please have a nice evening, my friend.
    Take care.
PS : what an adorable pic of Charley !! So cute !! Give all your furry babies a big hug from me, OK ? :)

:D Charlie looks to be quite a character – lovely photo. I can imagine how excited the children will be by the hatching of eggs – what happens if it all kicks off over night while no-one is there? There was a news story recently about a boy hatching an egg from a box bought at Tesco (Actually I’ve just googled and it was Waitrose http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/nol/newsid_6640000/newsid_6644900/6644913.stm?bw=bb&mp=wm ) I’m not sure I’m ready to watch that film either, I am a bit of an ostrich. Hope your day is fab lots of love xxx
