Yes, Dave was blown away by Les Mis just like I was all those years ago. Isn’t it one of life’s supreme pleasures when you see a loved one enjoy something you’ve banged on about for years?? I bought the Les Mis CD and he’s been playing it in the car ever since ![]()
Something I’ve always wanted to do (even though I know London really well, having spent 3 years close by when I was training to be a teacher) is to take a ride on one of the open top buses. So that’s what we did! We were lucky with the weather, no rain, thank goodness. The bus ride took about five hours, much longer than we were expecting and it scuppered our plans to go to London Zoo but we didn’t mind. I was fascinated to see and hear about lesser known parts of London such as birth places of famous people, wealthiest parts of London etc. Best of all though was seeing all those iconic landmarks. I can’t think of another city in the world that has quite as many as London does (well, maybe Paris?!). here’s a few of them:

We had a wonderful weekend all in all and came home to find our two dogs thrilled to see us (a friend had dog sat for us). Unfortunately just before we went to bed we discovered a leak coming from the cold water tank which is housed in the loft. What followed turned into a total nightmare! I won’t go into details as it’s a long story, suffice to say that we were left with no water for three days by an ill chosen bunch of cowboys. Eventually we were rescued by a thoroughly decent, expert plumber on the 4th day and now everything is back to normal!
We had a day in Cambridge to cheer ourselves up the next day and it did the trick. Lunch in the fab Giraffe restaurant and a good browse around the wonderful shops were just what the doctor ordered! I fell in love with a beautiful Monsoon dress but didn’t buy it. When I got home I kept thinking about it (how often have I done that?!) and ended up ordering it online….it arrived today and is BEAUTIFUL!

Yeah to Dave loving Les Mis..
and so pleased you had a lovely time away..
What a horror though to come back to deal with and glad your water problem is all sorted now.
Wow that dress is gorgeous and good on you ordering it..
Think our summer is over given the weather!
Luv n hugs xxx
Ciao Nikki, I’m in a hurry today but wanted to pop in and see what was new. Lovely pics, thanks for sharing.
I see you have 20°C, cool! Send some sun here too, please!
Will be back soon, have a lovely weekend ahead. Hugs!
Hi Nikki, after your comment about Alfred Hitchcock, I’ve been looking for North by Northwest, but I couldn’t find it on DVD… yet! I’ve seen it ages ago and would like to see it again and in Eng.
I agree with you 100%, this summer’s weather has been very disappointing, with a lot of dark/cloudy or rainy days and not a lot of sun. I was envious of my friend J. She lives in Finland and they had a better weather during all spring and summer. And they are sooo much north!
Anyway, have a lovely Sunday and new week ahead. Hugs!
Totally loving that Monsoon dress.
I was in Dunelm this week, all of the ‘Home’ signs had gone.
I’m so glad we got ours when we did, and that you’ve got yours too.
Glad it’s cooled down now. Our leaves have been dropping like flies this week with all that windy weather
Hope school is going well xxxx
Poor little foreign kids. I hope they settle into things this week. Must be scary for them, but you’d hope their parents explain what’s going on.
I hope you’re wrong about Wednesday! I’m all geared up for cooler days. Mind you, we’re bound to get a blast of late sunshine again, now the kids are back.
Isn’t it typical with Dave’s work? Why couldn’tthe job had come up while you had your time off?! Arggh! I’d be miffed too!
ooh, BB. Hurrah for Sophie! Did you see BBLB today? A touch of tension between her and Chris methinks. And that Noreen idiot needs to realise she is not such a big star that anyone gives a stuff who she’s seeing now! All that ‘no comment’ tosh. She needs to get a grip.

OH, the London bus ride sounds divine. I’d love to “see” the history more than anything else, I think. Glad you indulged in the dress you loved. Post a photo when you get a chance. We’ve had a three-day weekend here, so I’ll be dragging myself out of bed in the morning. One gets spoiled so quickly that way! Hugs!!!
Hello Nikki, London is a fantastic city & I’m glad Dave loved Les Mis. Isn’t it funny about the dress. It happens to me all the time. I’ll see something I’d love to have, will be good & serious & won’t buy it just to run back to the store later to get it. Your dress is gorgeous, glad you were able to buy it online. Have a great weekend, hugs
The NS recipe turned out well. I was going to say it was a bit more fiddly and time consuming than I epxected, but that’s not true really. It felt that way because a certain tiny person kept wanting stuff and interrupting. That’s why it felt fiddly to me, because I couldn’t get on and just get it done. However, it turned out really well and was oh so tasty. Will have to make it again. Next time I’ll try it on a normal baguette as ciabatta does go very hard when toasted. I feared for my fillings!
Have you been watching ‘economy gastronomy’ too? I love it, but I think they could improve. E.G, they made macaroni cheese in the first week, and tarted it up a bit by adding bacon lardons and artichoke hearts. I think macaroni cheese is nice just as it is, but I often add tomato slices on top before cooking. I can get the bacon addition, but artichokes? I looked in Sainsbury’s that week to see how much artichokes were, and they were £4 a jar!! Seems to go against the ‘economy’ part when you have to buy something that you might not particularly like just to pad out a bit of pasta! Other than that I do enjoy it.
Have a lovely Sunday xx
so Sherlock, did you get to the bottom of things?!
xxxx
Just popping by to see how you are doing. Have a lovely Autumn. Hugs!

No prizes for guessing who will be put inside

Hi, Nikki. I hope all is well on your end. I am fine, just working too hard, as I’m sure you understand. I spent the day redoing my blog yesterday; I had forgotten how much fun that could be. We are awaiting rain from Hurricane Ida this morning; hopefully we won’t get the wind. Have a wonderful day!
Hello. thought I’d take a stroll over here to see if you’ve posted. did you do anything nice for Guy Fawkes? We had a few fireworks on Sat, little one loved it.
Do you visit your Meez on a daily basis? If you do, make sure you click on ‘daily boost’, it gives you around 30 coinz each time, sometimes more, sometimes less. They do this every day, and it soon builds up.
